The Cultivation Experiences of Two Elderly Women

Aunt Cai Reports: My Sickness Disappeared after Listening to Teacher's Lectures.

Ms. Cai Bei practiced Buddhism for over ten years, yet once she listened to Teacher's lectures on tape, she felt deeply touched. She realized that she had finally obtained a profound and righteous Fa and that her past devotion to Buddhism, including attempts to "eliminate tribulations" and "make a fortune," etc. were superficial and could not allow her to truly reach enlightenment. She made a steadfast decision to practice cultivation.

Ms. Cai's health immediately improved after she began to cultivate. Before practicing Falun Dafa, she had to go to the toilet every half hour and always worried about not being able to find a restroom after leaving her house. Since she started practicing Dafa, she could go up to three or four hours without needing to use the restroom.

Ms. Cai was illiterate when she first started studying Zhuan Falun and could not recognize a single word. Her husband also practiced Dafa and would help her read. In only a short amount of time, she was able to read Zhuan Falun thoroughly. Now she confidently reports, "I can read all Dafa Books."

Since both her physical and mental functioning have improved, Ms. Cai, now 60 years old, is very enthusiastic about spreading Falun Dafa. On her own initiative, she goes to the post office and the train station to distribute truth clarifying materials. Recently, in order to enrich spreading the Fa, and achieve more acceptance, she joined other practitioners in organizing and performing in a waist-drum team. Ms. Cai Bei is surprisingly energetic when she plays the waist-drum and is able to keep pace with those much younger than she. People are quit moved by this high-spirited elderly woman.

Aunt Lian: Feeling that the "Treasured Book" is a Precious Gift, Overcomes Language Barrier

Aunt Lian, a 78-year-old woman, has been practicing Falun Dafa for six years since she and her friends went to Hua Lian. It was during that visit that someone introduced Zhuan Falun to her. When she saw the text she thought, "This book is so thick and I don't know any Chinese. How can I read it?" When she opened the book, she saw that all the letters were golden in color. When she touched the words with her finger, she found that every one had a bumpy surface. Aunt Lian was very surprised and knew immediately that this must be a "treasured book, a book from heaven."

Aunt Lian said, "When I first attained Falun Dafa, each of us took turns reading in group study. When it was my turn, because I received a Japanese education, I did not know how to pronounce in Mandarin and was only able to read mixing the Taiwanese and Japanese. I felt very uneasy about it." Aunt Lian later decided that she must read Zhuan Falun in Mandarin.

Aunt Lian studied the Fa diligently after returning home from group practice. She often did not feel tired after reading continuously for six or seven hours. She would raise her head only to find that that the sun had already set and the whole day had already passed. When she came across words that she did not know how to pronounce, she would go to the front entrance of her house to seek assistance from students who passed by her door, "Young man, how do you pronounce this word?" When people saw that this elderly woman was still trying to study, they would smile and ask her, "You are so old already, yet you are still trying to learn how to read?"

With all her hard work, Aunt Lian could soon read Zhuan Falun in its entirety and the words that had once appeared raised were now flat. She understood that Teacher was offering her hints that she should study the Fa diligently and break through the tribulations.

Aunt Lian now appears frequently at all kinds of activities to spread Dafa. Next time when you meet a seventy-year-old, energetic, and out-spoken woman in the streets of Jilong, she might be Aunt Lian.

Elderly individuals know all too well the many joys and sorrows from a life long lived. Many suffer from sickness and are disturbed by the sentimentality between their relatives. Their years of experience are written on their faces. The stories of these two elderly Falun Gong practitioners, however, demonstrate that this unique cultivation practice of mind and body can stop people's minds and bodies from aging.
