The Miracle of My Sister Escaping the Tsunami

(Clearwisdom.net) I am 73 years old, and my sister, whom I grew up with under great hardships, is already 76 and now living in Singapore. For the past five years, I have continued to practice Falun Dafa under the persecution. My sister has always worried for my safety.

Last year during the mid-Autumn Festival, my sister, together with my brother and sister-in-law, visited me in Guangzhou. After many years of separation, my sister and I were able to have long, detailed talks, and she finally gained a more righteous and complete understanding about the truth of Falun Dafa. She started to understand why I continued to practice Falun Dafa and believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" during the past years despite enormous difficulties and pressure. She said to me, "If you think you have chosen a correct path, then you must continue to walk this path. As long as you remain righteous, you will have a bright future. No matter how evil the beasts are, the gods will protect you."

Before they left, I gave my sister and my relatives a carefully hand-crafted card with the message: "If you silently repeat the phrases 'Falun Dafa is good' and 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good,' you will be prosperous and safe." My sister happily accepted it and thanked me sincerely. She said to me, "This is a very precious gift. I will always carry it with me."

After my sister returned to Singapore, towards the end of December 2004, a few days before the Tsunami, she went with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren to Thailand for a holiday. They all stayed at a hotel next to the ocean in Phuket. They had a great time in that wonderful sun, sand and water for three days.

On December 25, my niece received a phone call from her friend at the local university who said, "I welcome your whole family to spend Christmas at my home!" This friend lives at Phuket and has a beautiful house on the top of the island's hill. My sister's family accepted the invitation, checked out of their hotel rooms, and went to my niece's friend's home to celebrate Christmas.

So it was that my sister's entire family escaped the shocking Tsunami on the morning of December 26. When my sister saw that their hotel had disappeared, and when she saw the dead bodies in the water and the quietness of the beach, she felt frightened and could not help crying aloud. Three days after the Tsunami, my sister was able to tell our relatives that her family had escaped this disaster. She felt very fortunate.

My reunion with my sister at the last mid-Autumn Festival was a very precious time. As soon as we met, my sister said she could not understand the inhumane persecutions I had endured for the past few years. She wanted to know the truth about Falun Dafa. She is a very devout Catholic and believes very much in God and goes to church every Sunday. When I was telling her about Falun Dafa, I took into account her degree of understanding and her level of acceptance and patiently described Falun Dafa. I received good feedback from her. During our get-together, she saw how healthy I looked and how energetic I was. She was very impressed that I did not look like a 73-year-old.

During those few days with my sister, I could clearly feel that, in my sister's heart, she had already developed a righteous understanding of Falun Dafa.
