The 610 Office and Local Police Arrest a Practitioner and Extort Her Husband

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yang Jinfeng, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province, went to Beijing to clarify the truth. The police arrested her and sent her home. The 610 Office and local police station in Yimianpo Town pressured her to write a "guarantee" to renounce the practice, but Ms. Yang refused. As a result, she was illegally detained for a long time.

When Ms. Yang's husband went to ask for her release, the 610 Office deceived him. They told him to pay 5,000 yuan as bail and promised to refund the money three years later if she agreed not to go to Beijing again. After releasing Ms. Yang, however, they notified the police from the Wanshan Police Station to arrest her from her home. The Wanshan area is under the Weihe Forest Bureau's administration, while Ms. Yang's home is in the Huanshan area of Yimianpo Town. The two police stations made a deal in advance. The police from Wanshan arrested Ms. Yang first, but police from the Yimianpo Police Station also broke into her home later to search for her. Although Ms. Yang's husband told them that police from the Wanshan Station had already arrested her, they coerced him into signing a statement claiming that Ms. Yang Jinfeng was out of town. Under threats and intimidation, he signed it. Using the signed statement as evidence, officials from the 610 Office confiscated 5,000 yuan from their family.

After her release, Ms. Yang went to reason with the police, but they refused to listen to her. Five thousand yuan is a large sum of money for a peasant family, but the authorities just extorted it from them without a second thought.
