70-Year-Old Practitioner Shi Zhimin Holds Hunger Strike to Protest Persecution in Meng County Detention Center, Henan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Shi Zhimin, a retired textile plant manager in his 70s, from Langfang City, Hebei Province, was illegally arrested by police as he was returning to his hometown in Henan Province in December 2004. He is currently in a detention center in Meng County, Henan Province.

Mr. Shi's family has informed the Clearwisdom/Minghui website that while in the detention center, he has been on a hunger strike for months protesting his illegal detention. Mr. Shi is extremely weak now. Each day he is taken to a hospital and given injections, and then taken back to the detention center at night. Notice of his terminal illness was sent to the Procuratorate instead of to his family. The local law enforcement department, however, still refuses to release him, and has even said that he will be sentenced to prison.

We call on all kind people to send letters, faxes, and make phone calls to strongly condemn the criminal actions and human rights violations committed by the law enforcement personnel from the Meng County Police Department, Mengzhou City, Henan Province, so as to rescue Mr. Shi's life and prevent another murder from occurring.

(Note: People in National Security Section of Mengzhou Police Department who answered phone calls dare not tell their names. So, phone calls can only be directed to the National Security Section instead of directly to the individuals.)
