A Call for UN Refugee Agency and International Human Rights Organizations to Help Rescue Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Xinyi
By a practitioner in Changsha City, China
(Clearwisdom.net) Mrs. Zhang Xinyi and her husband were previously granted refugee status and were under the protection of the UN Refugee
Agency in Cambodia. Nevertheless, the couple was deported back to China because she practices Falun Dafa. Then, on April 28, 2005, officers from the
Hunan Province Police Department, the Tianxin District Police Department in Changsha City and the Xinkaipu Police Station arrested Mrs. Zhang and
ransacked her home. Mrs. Zhang is a teacher in her fifties who lives in Room 402 South Building by the Mawangjie Farm Market in Changsha City. She and her husband were
teachers at a school in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. In August 2002, Mrs. Zhang and her husband were abducted by Cambodian authorities working in collusion
with the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia. They detained the couple and then deported them back to China, even though they knew that they were under the
protection of the UN Refugee Agency. The couple was held at a detention center for interrogation after they were sent back to China. Reportedly, they were not released until their
situation attracted worldwide attention, and the UN Refugee Agency asked about the matter. Their passports have been confiscated. Mrs. Zhang asked the Changsha City Police Department to return their passports, and also appealed to the court. The court, however, rejected her
request, using the excuse that it is "not within the boundary of administrative jurisdiction." Now Mrs. Zhang has been illegally arrested again, and her family members are not allowed to visit her. The police said that she "is extremely
stubborn." In order to prevent the Chinese government from persecuting her, and to respect the UN Conventions and Human Rights Law, we call on
the UN Refugee Agency and International Human Rights organizations to help secure Mrs. Zhang's release. Zhang Xinyi: 86-731-2564076 (Home) April 30, 2005
