People of Legend

(Clearwisdom.net) "You people will become legendary." These are the heart-felt words from people who have come to admire Dafa practitioners for their righteous thoughts and actions.

Three years ago, I was arrested because of my attendance at an experience sharing conference. I was detained in a detention center. Throughout my detention, I kept on clarifying the truth to everyone and protesting against the persecution. The police became scared of me and changed my detention room 4 times in a month. The rooms at the detention center were all very small, around 10 to 20 square meters in size. Each room would accommodate 23 detainees.

The detainees were treated like animals inside small cages. 80% of the floor was covered with wood, and the detainees would have to sleep on the floor, leaving only a small portion of the room for walking space. The inmate in charge of the room where I was first detained was Ruan Xiaoer, who had been sentenced to 7 years in prison for a criminal offense. I was the only Dafa practitioner being detained inside that room. At the beginning, all the detainees would verbally abuse me, trying to persuade me to give up my cultivation. I started to clarify the truth to them and hoped that they would become good people. Most of the detainees (including Ruan Xiaoer, the inmate in charge of the room) were touched by my righteous thoughts and agreed with me. They learned that Falun Gong was actually very good. I still clearly remember one discussion that I had with him. Ruan asked me: "Why were you arrested?" I answered: "Because I am cultivating 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance' to become a better person. Jiang's group, however, began persecuting us. Thus I was arrested." Ruan then asked: "Do you think you can get out of here?" I told him firmly: "Of course, I can definitely get out of here!" Ruan continued: "If you don't write the three statements, I am afraid you will be sentenced to prison and sent to a forced labor camp for further persecution. They'll try to force you to change your mind." I said: "Well, I am absolutely sure that I won't write the statements, and I strongly demand that I be released without any charges. I will definitely get out of this place." Ruan then said to me: "Let me tell you, if you don't write the three statements, it is impossible for you to be released without any charges. If you can really get out of here like that, you have to be some kind of legendary figure." I promised Ruan: "Mr. Ruan, please remember my words, Dafa practitioners are indeed the stuff of legends!"

After I was detained in the detention center, my son had a dream about me. My son told me that, in the dream, he saw me climb over the wall to try to escape. In the detention center, there was no other way to get out. My son said that I was bravely climbing, and eventually I made it to the top of the wall and escaped from the center. It wasn't until later that I learned of this dream, after I had gotten out.

Through my truth clarification, I got to know those people around me much better. Some of them had a strong, righteous mind, and would help me by watching out for the guards while I did the exercises. I practiced the exercises every day, even though I couldn't practice for too long each time. Gradually, everyone started to develop positive thoughts towards Falun Dafa, and they began to remember words like "the principle of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance' is the universal law," "Falun Dafa is good," and so on. One morning, as we were just getting up from bed, I led these people to shout out: "Falun Dafa is good," and all these twenty something people started to shout after me: "Falun Dafa is good," "the principle of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance' is the universal law."

We had several such events right after that. Some of the people even started to recite the poems from Hong Yin or read Lunyu, and some of them wanted to learn the exercises. Some others indicated that they would start cultivating in Falun Dafa after they got out of the detention center. The detention center was full of evil, but evil couldn't overwhelm the upright. When people became righteous, their determination would turn into a strong defense. A Dafa practitioner's righteous thoughts and actions brought out a righteous and positive cultivation environment inside the wicked detention center. I was thus released from the center without any charges whatsoever. Two years later, Ruan Xiaoer was released from the center. He visited me and said to me with admiration: "Dafa practitioners are the modern day legends!"
