Young Australian Woman Finds the Meaning of Life in Falun Dafa

(Clearwisdom.net) I was a 21-year-old woman living in Brisbane, Australia, when I first saw Falun Dafa being practiced in my local park. I was walking around in the rose garden in the park when I saw people practicing an Indian school of Yoga, Tai Chi and Falun Dafa. I thought to myself, "I have tried both Yoga and Tai Chi, I will give Falun Dafa a try." At the time I was practicing and studying Buddhism and had been very intrigued by meditation and enlightenment throughout my teenage years.

At my first lesson of Falun Dafa, I felt a deep excitement and wonder. I really wanted to learn the exercises quickly and well so that I could practice without guidance at home. I bought the introductory text on the first day and read it in a few days. Then I bought the main text the next week. The thing that touched me initially about the teachings of Falun Dafa was the emphasis on cultivating one's Xinxing that is, improving ones heart and moral character. This to me, was the truth and essence I felt all religions and spiritual practices were trying to achieve and master. At that point I thought to myself, " I'll practice Falun Dafa earnestly for 6 months and see what happens." Less than one month later, I knew I would be practicing Falun Dafa for the rest of my life.

Teacher Li Hongzhi asks his student to sincerely look within one's heart to find where one should improve oneself. He asks his students to be kind to others in all respects and under all circumstances. This to me is the meaning of life.

Although it has never been easy to achieve, I have however noticed huge changes in myself since practicing Falun Dafa. For example, I now try to use Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance) as my guiding law when facing any problems. This has eliminated confusion in my life. I now value other people's opinions and have more respect for the lives of others, even if I don't understand them, or if they hurt or insult me. When I study Falun Dafa, I am constantly being reminded to be unselfish, patient and kind to others.
