The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Jinyang City, Sichuan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) According to information from inside sources, a few months before July 20, 2005, more than 50 practitioners in Jinyang City were arrested. They were detained in detention centers in various cities and counties. So far, two of them have been released, some are serving terms in forced labor camps, and others are in brainwashing centers.

Before July 20, 2005, every police station, residential association and some practitioners' work places joined together in taking practitioners to brainwashing centers under the pretense of wanting to talk with practitioners, going through formalities, etc. As a result, many practitioners have been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. The following is information on practitioners who have been illegally detained.

Ms. Pan Qifen, in her 50s, is from Zitong County of Jinyang City. The police arrested her on her way to work around May 2005. They searched her home. Although they did not find anything, they still threatened and coerced Ms. Pan to admit that she passed out truth-clarifying materials. Her relatives were extorted about 10,000 yuan by the police. The police told her relatives that Ms. Pan would be released, but instead they sentenced her to 2 years of forced labor.

Ms. Wang Yuan, in her 30s, is a teacher at Jinyang City Education College. She was arrested last year and the police searched her home and confiscated her computer. Mr. Wang was arrested again before July 20, 2005.

Mr. Chen Haidong, in his 40s, was a teacher of the Hydropower School in Gaoxin District of Jinyang City. Last September, he was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp because of clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to his class. The police confiscated his two computers. Mr. Chen was arrested again around July 20, 2005.

Mr. Wang Yancai, in his 50s, a retiree from the Eleventh Factory of Jinyang City, lives in Yongxing Town of Gaoxin District. He was sent to a forced labor camp because of practicing Falun Gong before. He was released after serving his term, and he was arrested again on July 20, 2005.

Ms. Feng Biqiong is a family member of someone who is working at the Automobile Steering Factory of Gaoxin District. On July 24, 2005, she was deceived into going to a brainwashing session held in the Yulong Hotel in Yulong Village of Gaoxin District. At this brainwashing session, eight people were in charge of "transforming" her. After Ms. Feng signed a "guarantee statement", she was sent back home. The officials later searched her home and confiscated two Falun Gong books.

Ms. An Zhihong is a resident of Fule Street of Jinyang City. On July 21, 2005, she was taken to a brainwashing session by members of the local residents association.

Other detained practitioners are: Ms. Gao Yan, Ms. Ming Zhu, Zhang Chunbao, Feng Wei, Yi Huajie, Yue Bing, Chui Xiaoping, and Wu Digao.
