Mr. Ma Qinghai Secretly and Illegally Sentenced by Aohanqi Court in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia (Clearwisdom.net) After Dafa practitioner Mr. Ma Qinghai was arrested by the national security brigade at Aohanqi, he was sent to Aohan Prison. At the time of this writing, he had been on hunger strike for 53 days in protest. Recently, he was secretly sentenced to nine years by an Aohanqi Court. The police station and prison have made attempts to thwart his family members from appealing and did not allow their attorney to interview him to collect evidence.
The Aohanqi Court secretly and illegally tried Mr. Ma on December 8, 2005. His family was not notified, and no arguments for the defense were allowed during the illegal trial. Not until December 17, when his family member went to the prison to inquire about Mr. Ma's situation, did chief Zhao Chunshan inform them, "Ma Qinghai has been sentenced to nine years. And December 19 is the deadline for appeal." His family member hurriedly went to engage an attorney. On the afternoon of December 19, his family member and the attorney arrived at the prison to ask Mr. Ma to make the decision to appeal. The political instructor Wang Li, the deputy chief of the prison, Gao Liang and police officer Ji Yahuan obstructed them in every possible way. Not until the end of the work shift did it finally get signed. However, the guard passed on the paper and did not allow the attorney to meet with Ma Qinghai.
On December 20, two attorneys arrived at the prison to see Mr. Ma as provided by law. At first, chief Zhao Chunshan agreed to let them see him. However, after the chief returned to the prison building, he had Ji Yahuan come out and tell them that they could not see him. When the family member called Zhao up on his cell phone, Zhao used the excuse: "Police authorization is required." The attorneys found the political commissar of the police station, Qing Ruisong. Confronted by the attorneys, Qing said, "Recently, the central government issued a document that attorneys are not allowed to see Falun Gong practitioners in custody." The attorneys asked him to show them the document, but Qing Ruisong said, "We do have the document, but it's with the Chifeng National Security Brigade." The attorneys said this is not possible. If it were true, we would find it on the internet. The attorneys would also have received the notice.
The family member went to the court to ask for a copy of the verdict. As of December 21, the court still has not given them a copy. According to people in legal circles, attorneys meeting with their clients is a perfectly normal legal procedure. No organization or individual has any right to interfere for any reason. From the above, it is not difficult to see that the Aohanqi Police, the prosecutor and the Judicial Systems who are the enforcers of the law are themselves breaking the law and have reached the point of doing whatever they like.
The family members worry that Mr. Ma's health may be in serious danger from the torture. The authorities break the law while enforcing the law because they fear that the situation will be exposed.
Dafa practitioner Mr. Lu Jingyu, who was abducted together with Ma Qinghai, was recently sent to the Chifeng brainwashing center to be "transformed". We hereby appeal for the urgent rescue of Dafa practitioners Mr. Ma Qinghai and Mr. Lu Jingyu.
