(Clearwisdom.net) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and wish to share a mysterious experience I had before I started to practice Falun Dafa. This near-death experience gave me an opportunity to obtain the Fa as well as to cultivate.

I was born in Southern China. Many people in my village believe in the existence of Buddhas, Daos and Gods. Under the teachings of my parents, I always believed that gods exist. Even during that period of time when the Chinese Communist Party promoted the concept of atheism, I still strongly believed in gods. When I was younger, I had always wanted to convert and cultivate in Buddhism, and many of my family and friends knew this.

Although I had this wish, my karma was extremely large. In 1984, I contracted a severe disease that made my body extremely susceptible to cold temperatures. This strongly disrupted my excretory system, and led to excess cold and muscular pain. Due to the pain, I could not even sit properly and I had to seek medical attention. I went to Western and Eastern doctors but none of them could cure my disease. At that time, I was at the brink of death.

One evening in 1992, I had a dream. In this dream, I tripped and fell on a muddy beach before high tide. No matter how I struggled, I could not pick myself up. Seeing that the tide was rising in front of me, I was extremely anxious. Deep down inside I knew that I was in a very dangerous situation. Some people around me told me, "Call out for Master Li to help you out." I asked, "Where is Master Li?"

After a while, those people called, "Master Li is here! Master Li is here!" Then Master Li appeared on my right and I happily asked, "Who are you?" Master Li replied, "You do not remember who I am?" Master Li's voice was filled with vigor and as he was saying this, he extended his hand to pull me out. When his hand finally grabbed my hand, he continued, "I will save you, I will definitely save you." That was how I was pulled out from the muddy beach. Then, he took me to the pier before bringing me to an alley. Opposite the alley was a large house and upon entering it, I saw a large and tall Buddha statue of immeasurable magnificence. Master Li compassionately used his right hand to convey the meaning that "I am right here." At this moment, I was extremely excited and thought, "You are a Buddha, I will thank you in person when my disease is cured."

Before I had a chance to voice my thought, Master disappeared. I was shocked and woke up from my dream. After waking up, I felt extremely relaxed and comfortable. I told my family and friends about this dream and all of them told me that it was a good dream. In fact, they believed that a big Buddha might save me. Two days after the dream, my body began to experience an enormous change.

Every night I usually experienced a few episodes of "cold attacks" because of my disease, but after the dream I began to experience "hot attacks" instead. My body temperature rose continuously until I started to sweat throughout my body. Then, my skin began to excrete sand-like sharp-looking minerals. These minerals pierced through my skin while coming out and it was extremely itchy but not painful. At the same time, there were many other odd-looking waste materials being excreted out of my body. Together, they weighed about 10 jin (5000 grams, or 11.02 pounds). Strikingly, the wounds on my skin were not inflamed, and they quickly recovered without leaving a scar. It was the first time that I had such feelings of comfort after many years in such a state of disease.

After I started practicing Falun Dafa later on, I began to have a new perception of this near-death experience of mine. In Zhuan Falun Master said,

"Under such difficult circumstances, this person is still not lost and wants to come back. As a result, people will help him and unconditionally give him a hand--they will help him with anything."

The book also said,

"Your life initially did not include cultivation practice, but now you want to practice cultivation. Accordingly, your future life must be rearranged, and so it is permitted to adjust your body for you."

Therefore, Master Li helped me to adjust my body and eliminate my karma.

Although at that time when I had the dream I was not practicing Falun Dafa, I could clearly see Master Li's appearance in my dream and remember him. After my body had recovered from that disease, I quickly ran to many temples to find Master Li, but to no avail. None of the Buddha statues in the temples I had visited looked like Master Li. I was extremely disappointed, but I thought of Master Li every day and hoped that I would find him one day.

Coincidentally, my eldest son sent me a letter, telling me to get in touch with a Falun Dafa practitioner in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. I immediately contacted her and wanted to meet her. As I did not know this practitioner, she said that she would wait somewhere with a copy of Zhuan Falun in her hand. I went to meet her at the agreed date and time. When I was about one meter away from the meeting place, I saw her Zhuan Falun book flash twice with golden light. I rushed ahead and asked for the book. Opening the first few pages, I saw Master Li's photo and I was exhilarated. I thought to myself, "Finally, I have found you, Master Li! You were the one who saved me back then!" That day was July 9, 1998; it was the date in which I obtained the Fa.

During my cultivation practice, the voice and appearance of Master Li in the video tapes was exactly like the Master Li in my dream. It was like what Master Li had said in "Destined Return for the Holy Fruition" in Hong Yin:

Oh how many the years, looking for the master,
Finally the day has arrived to meet him.
Cultivate and return, the Fa now gained,
And follow your master to return, consummated.

After practicing Falun Dafa, from my own experience, I understand that Falun Dafa is extremely profound and has miraculous healing effects that cannot be explained by today's science. Falun Dafa is broad and profound. This Zhuan Falun is invaluable, as it is a book that can guide us in cultivation. Every word that Master says is true. He clarified to practitioners the real meaning of being human as well as all the truths in the universe. He also opened a new path for cultivators in the future.
