Three Senior Citizens from Jilin Province, Gansu Province and Chongqing City Passed Away After Enduring Persecution

1. Mr. Zhang Dexiang, who was around 70, was a practitioner from Jilin Province and a retired driver of the Motor Vehicle Team in the Tonghua County Agriculture Manufacture Material Company. He lived in the Xingfu Community on Guangming Road of Tonghua City.

Mr. Zhang started to practice Falun Dafa on June 5, 1998. Shortly after he started the cultivation practice, his symptoms of pulmonary emphysema, asthma, cough, and fatigue all disappeared.

After the persecution of Falun Dafa started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Zhang drove with his son and daughter-in-law to Beijing to clarify the truth. The police blocked them on their way to Beijing and forced them to return. After this, the police from the Guangming Road Police Station constantly went to Mr. Zhang's home to interrogate, search, harass, threaten, and intimidate the family, especially on dates such as July 20, October 1 and the end of the year, which they considered to be "sensitive" dates.

The extended period of psychological stress caused the recurrence of Mr. Zhang Dexiang's old illness symptoms and he passed away in the middle of May 2004.

2. The mother of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Ping from Lanzhou City in Gansu Province was a Falun Dafa practitioner. Unfortunately she passed away in September 2005, after her daughter was arrested and taken to the Second Division of the Hualinping Detention Center of Lanzhou City.

Ms. Zhang's mother was repeatedly arrested and detained because she went to Beijing to protest and to distribute Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials. She was tortured while being held in the brainwashing center and was severely hurt psychologically. In October 2002, shortly after she was put into the brainwashing center, she fainted and was sent to the hospital. Prior to the arrest of Ms. Zhang Ping, authorities from the Sixth Division of the Lanzhou City Police Department followed and monitored Ms. Zhang for one month. Between the end of May 2005 and the beginning of June 2005, five police officers from the Sixth Division of the Lanzhou City Police Department arrested Ms. Zhang. The police officers carried an arrest warrant from Hu County of Shaanxi Province issued in January 2003 to force Ms. Zhang Ping's mother to sign her name in acknowledgement.

3. Ms. Yu Yonghua, who was over 70, was a practitioner from the Third Group of the Gelanyandong Village, Changshou District of Chongqing City. She started to practice Falun Dafa in 1997. Prior to that, she suffered from many types of illnesses. Nine months after she started to practice Falun Dafa, all of her illnesses disappeared and her body became healthy.

After July 20, 1999, due to the severe persecution of Falun Dafa, and also due to the intense pressure from the local government in which her second son held the position of the Chief of the Village, her oldest son and daughter-in-law kept her from doing the exercises and studying the Fa. Consequently, Ms. Yu's old illnesses recurred and she passed away in January 2003.
