Taiwanese Vice President Plans to Investigate the Allegation of CCP's Organ Harvesting and Take Corresponding Actions
By a practitioner from Taiwan
(Clearwisdom.net) The Taiwanese Vice President, Ms. Annette Lu, met the
two Canadian independent investigators, Mr. David Kilgour and Mr. David Matas,
on October 13, 2006 and paid close attention to the report concerning the
Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) organ harvesting from living people. Ms. Lu said
in an interview on October 14, that based on this report, many organs were
harvested from living Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned in China. If it is
true, it is a horrible situation. She believed that no one would accept an organ
transplant if he knew that the source of the donor organ was of this type. Ms. Lu attended a human rights forum on October 14 and said after the
meeting, "We want to tell citizens of the severity of the issue, because it
has a direct relation with the Taiwanese people." Many Taiwanese patients
think that it is hard to get organs in Taiwan, so they go to China. But they
don't know where the organs in China are from. She disclosed that after learning further information, related government
departments, including the Legislative Council, would discuss the issue and take
actions on the CCP's live organ harvesting. Mr. David Matas, international human rights lawyer, and Mr. David Kilgour,
former Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) for Canada, published their report on
July 6, 2006, "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong
Practitioners in China." Accompanied by the deputy director of the Chinese
Human Rights Association, Su Yu-chen, and the director of the International
Judicial Justice Association, Chu Wan-chi, Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas visited Ms.
Lu at 2:00 p.m. on October 13. In the half-hour meeting, Ms. Lu told the two investigators that she has read
the independent investigation report and felt that the situation is China is
horrible. She was shocked, but she believed that the CCP could commit such a
crime. Mr. Kilgour explained that it was an independent investigation and his trip
to the United Nations, Europe, the US, and Asia has caught people's attention in
each place. Everyone should think about how to have the CCP stop the horrible
atrocity. Ms. Lu said that the issue especially related to Taiwanese patients
who wish to receive organ transplants overseas, and she would provide necessary
assistance to the investigators. She asked them what help is needed. Mr. Matas
suggested that Ms. Lu coordinate government agencies to spread the news and take
necessary actions on this issue. The two investigators reminded the Taiwanese people that they should know
that the donors for those Taiwanese patients receiving organ transplants in
China are possibly victims of the CCP's live organ harvesting. Taiwanese people
should know the facts.
