Current Conditions in Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing City

(Clearwisdom.net) The Fourth Team in Chongqing City Women's Forced Labor Camp, also called the "Education Team," is located at No. 21-1, Wujiang Rd., Maojiashan, Jiangbei District, Chongqing City. It is a place where Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted terribly.

In the persecution of practitioners during the past seven years, Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing City frequently sent their guards to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and other camps to learn so called "brainwashing experiences." Other forced labor camps also came to teach their methods of torture. Due to international pressure, this forced labor camp's administrators tried their best conceal their crimes. They established an "entertainment team" (formerly the Third Team made up of all drug addicts) and a "library" and a "gym," which were never used by any detainee. They also put up posters everywhere, intending to hide the cruel persecution methods forced on practitioners.

There are five small apartments in the Fourth Team: No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and another two behind. Each small apartment measures less than three square meters. Each one is very dark, with a strong rubber smell which can be detected even at the gate of the stairs. As soon as Falun Gong practitioners arrive, they are detained in the small apartments, where they are forced to eat, drink, wash, and use the toilet. When visitors are present, the practitioners are transferred to empty rooms on the fourth floor. Guards instigate drug addict inmates to persecute practitioners in the small apartments. Others are not allowed to look inside.

As for steadfast practitioners, guards in the Fourth Team punish them from dawn to dusk, only allowing them to sleep for two or three hours, or not allowing them to sleep for many days in a row and restricting their toilet privileges. At the same time, drug addict inmates insult them without a break and do not give them any peace. Practitioners are subjected to extreme physical and mental hardship, sending many to the verge of collapse. Living through one day seems like a year's worth of terror, in which life feels worse than death. The camp has tried every conceivable method to destroy Dafa practitioners' beliefs.

Practitioner Ms. Yu Xingrong from the Jiangbei District, Ms. Huang Zhenglan from Changshou, and others were forced to stand straight and perform military squats for about 40 hours. Men in the army only do this for about 15 minutes, while Falun Gong practitioners are forced to squat for several hours without changing position. Many people's toes had turned black when they emerged from the small apartments; they were numb, and some even suffered permanent disabilities. Practitioner Ms. Wang Aihua from the Yubei District was forced to soil her trousers. Many practitioner's legs became swollen and very thick; some were beaten until they turned black and blue, and they even had their hair pulled out in clumps. Guard Hu Xiaoyan said publicly: "I have enough time to torture you." Guards sent practitioners to the small apartments to be tortured again and again, calling them "Sauteed Pork" when they finally suffered a mental collapse.

Tang Suzhen, Chen Tingfen and a few other 50- to 60-year-old practitioners were trapped in the small apartments for more than four months. In rooms close to the small apartments, people could hear screams and moans coming from the apartments throughout the night. Practitioner Ms. Tang Bin from Wangjiang Mechanics Plant was on a protest hunger strike for three months. Her screams when she was brutally force-fed could be heard throughout the entire building. When practitioner Ms. Fu Rufang from Tongnan was force-fed, her front teeth were pried out. The skin in her armpits was scratched and was a complete mess. She was tortured severely and not allowed to sleep even when she was only skin and bones. Ms. Huang Zhenglan was not allowed to sleep for many days and was forced to squat military style. She was tortured so badly that she lost consciousness. Practitioner Ms. Wan Chuanling from Bishan was tortured to the point of mental collapse.

Some drug addict inmates revealed the torture going on inside the labor camp to the outside world. Instructor Shu Chang called all the drug addict inmates together and threatened: "I will sue you for libel if anybody says anything to someone on the outside." The more cruelly the inmates torture practitioners, the more of a bonus can they receive and the more their sentences are reduced. Every room has several drug addicts monitoring Falun Gong practitioners. They even look under the blankets to see if a person is practicing Falun Gong. Guard Shu Chang told them that reporting secretly on practitioners was "righteous."

Practitioners were forced to work until nine or ten o'clock in the evening all the time, sometimes even until twelve or one o'clock. The forced labor camp has been wrapping candies for Wankelai Food Plant in the Dashuijing Industrial District in the Jiangbei District for a long time. The candies were stored on a dusty wooden board, along with mouse droppings and metal shavings. The sanitation conditions were very bad. The forced labor camp limited water usage, not allowing practitioners to wash their hands after going to the bathroom and then making them continue wrapping the candies.
