Let Go of Attachments, Emerge from the Life-and-Death Tribulations Arranged by the Old Forces By a practitioner from China (Clearwisdom.net) I'm 73 years old, and I started to practice Falun Dafa in 1993. Before then, I suffered from nephritis, serious coughing and moderate asthma. After I practiced Falun Dafa, all these illnesses disappeared without a trace. I looked like a totally different person, and I felt very light when walking.
Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference:" "To do well is to not walk down the path arranged by the old forces; the goal is to not allow the old forces to take advantage of your gaps." In 1999, I once again developed a cough and the symptoms of asthma because I had not let go of my fundamental attachment. I always viewed it from a human perspective, saying that both my parents had such illnesses and it was the karma passed down by my ancestors. I also said that I had a weak constitution, etc. I held such bad notions and was attached to these notions until recently.
On November 18, 2005, I suddenly had a serious outbreak of asthma, but I still did not enlighten to my attachment. Instead, I regarded it as the recurrence of my old illness. After that my asthma became even more serious. My wife is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. Seeing that I was feeling so uncomfortable, she suggested that I sleep. I said "No, I want to study the Fa, and I cannot be taken advantage of by the evil.
Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference:" "Some students were coughing a while ago, and some students have had certain abnormal reactions, especially in the period after the Nine Commentaries came out. It was the work of the factors, lodged in people's bodies, that belong to the malevolent Party's evil specter. You need to eliminate them when you send righteous thoughts. They can't have that much of an effect on Dafa disciples, but they do interfere. Basically all of the recent interference, including interference of other sorts, has been the work of those evil factors." Though I was studying the Fa, some bad thoughts were reflected in my mind, such as: "I might suddenly have difficulty breathing;" "When I am in danger, do not tell my children, and make sure to send me to the hospital;" "If I pass away, you must continue practicing, and not give up cultivation and your bright future because of my slacking-off." I experienced these human notions in the first moment and then a cultivator's mind in the next moment. It was a battle between good and evil in my mind. However, I remembered that I am a Fa-rectification practitioner. I believe in Master and the Fa. I must keep my righteous thoughts strong and I must study the Fa, study the Fa, and study the Fa more. I breathed heavily for two days and two nights. I could not sleep or stand and had difficulty sitting, but I continued to study the Fa.
At night I was unable to sleep, so I sent forth righteous thoughts. I then remembered what Master taught in Zhuan Falun, "A complete cultivation practice of mind and body requires both cultivation and practice." Since I couldn't stand, I practiced the standing exercises in a sitting position, and I was unable to raise my hands. In the end, I indeed could no longer bear it, so I begged Master: "Master, you have saved me from hell, please help me!"
Soon a fellow practitioner came. She asked me how I was doing. I said I was eliminating karma. She said, "What karma are you eliminating? Master has told us that those who started to practice before July 20, 1999, had been pushed to their right position, and that after July 20, 1999, there was nothing but evil interference and the persecution." Although her words had awakened me, the root of my old notions and fundamental attachment remained untouched. Thus, I continued to breathe heavily.
Another practitioner heard that I was experiencing a tribulation and hurried to my home to ask how I was doing. I still thought that I was eliminating karma and so I said that my breathing was so heavy that I couldn't sleep or stand. The fellow practitioner seriously said, "Why is this allowed? You must sleep today." She immediately sat in front of me in a double-leg-crossed position and sent forth righteous thoughts. She did this to eliminate all the evil elements and external interference in other dimensions existing both inside and outside of my body. I also sent forth righteous thoughts with her. Fifteen minutes later, I magically stood up. Then I practiced three sets of the standing exercises. Moreover, I was also able to sleep that night.
Until then, I didn't realize that I had been looking at things with human notions for a long time and that I always thought it was sickness karma that was passed down from my ancestors. The old forces had taken advantage of this loophole in an attempt to take away my life. Master again saved me. I am a cultivator, and my path of life is arranged by Master. Master explained in Zhuan Falun, "As a practitioner, your path of life will be changed from now on. My fashen will rearrange it for you." The old forces can no longer confuse me. Moreover, they are not worthy of doing so.
