What I Know About 2 Practitioners Arrested in Thailand: Mr. Li Jianhui and His Wife

On December 15, 2005, a shameful incident took place in Thailand. The Chinese Embassy instigated the Thai police to beat up and arrest eight Falun Gong practitioners who were visiting Thailand. Among the victims was Mr. Li Jianhui. Reading news about the incident on the Internet, I saw a familiar face right in front of my eyes. I took a closer look and realized that it really was Mr. Li, whom I had not seen for several months. Somehow, his hair had turned white.

Ms. Dai Ying is Mr. Li Jianhui's wife. She had been imprisoned in China for three years for practicing Falun Gong. While in detention, Ms. Dai's mother passed away due to an illness. The prison officials did not allow her to go home for a last visit, or to attend her mother's funeral.

On February 27, 2003, after she was released from jail only two months prior, Ms. Dai and Mr. Li were again unlawfully detained. One of them was sentenced to two years of forced labor, and the other was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. On that same day, more than ten Falun Gong practitioners were also arrested or sentenced. Some were sentenced to a seven to ten year jail term.

In 1998, the couple had gone to the United States to attend an experience sharing conference. According to Ms. Dai Ying, at that event Mr. Li Jianhui was sitting in the front row with tears streaming down his face, listening to Teacher lecture the Fa. He knew that it was the Great Law, for which he had been waiting thousands of years. Due to the persecution, Mr. and Mrs. Li's businesses did not do very well and the supermarket's profits evaporated. Family members had to take care of their other businesses. However, Mr. Li Jianhui always said that even if they lost everything, as long as they have Dafa it would not matter.

Many fellow practitioners liked to have discussions with him. In 2003, several ex-practitioners who had been brainwashed by the Chinese Communists Party (CCP) often visited him. Mr. Li Jianhui helped them so that they could return to Dafa. However, some of them reported him to the 610 Office after he gave them Falun Gong materials. Some even told him that they would be given a reward of 10,000 Yuan if they reported him. Thus, Mr. Li was arrested again during February 2003's large-scale arrest.

Every time they detained Mr. Li Jianhui, several people in the prison had the opportunity to meet and talk with him, and later started practicing Falun Gong. Once there was someone with a Master's degree in economics that was in jail for a minor crime. Mr. Li Jianhui told him about Dafa, and as a result he started the practice. This gentleman said that the real reason for him being put in jail must have been so that he could obtain the Fa. In May of 2005, a fellow practitioner was stuck on a certain issue regarding the Fa principles. Hearing about that, Mr. and Mrs. Li immediately drove to see that practitioner and helped him to look at the issue from the Fa.

Wherever someone needed help, Mr. and Mrs. Li Jianhui would go there at once. Whenever someone needed financial support, the couple would generously donate money. When I heard from others that they were released from the forced labor camp, I was so happy for them. I did not anticipate that they would be arrested again so soon. However, I know that this is due to the CCP's persecution. I sincerely hope that kind people around the world will help Mr. Li Jianhui and his wife!
