(Clearwisdom.net) National Press Club hosted Dr. Wang Wenyi at its press conference at 2 p.m. on May 16 to talk about the harvesting of living Falun Gong practitioners' organs and the systematic persecution of Falun Gong over the past seven years. Two hours prior to the press conference, a representative of the CCP called the sponsor to ask that the event be cancelled. The National Press Club turned it down.
Reporters of the American media and several foreign media attended the conference. C-SPAN broadcasted it live and showed a re-run in the evening. Two sources who revealed the organ-harvesting crime, Annie and Peter, also attended.

Peter Hickman, Vice Chairman of the NPC Newsmaker Committee, said Wang Wenyi's protest has drawn wide attention. Many people want to learn more about it. After discussion, the NPC Newsmaker Committee agreed that it was valuable news, and decided to hold this press conference.
Mr. Hickman received a phone call from a CCP official two hours prior to the conference, requesting the NPC to cancel the conference. Hickman replied, "No, we won't."
Hickman said the CCP was afraid the news would be publicized.
Michael Horowitz, Senior Fellow of the Hudson Institute, an American think-tank, attended the press conference and said this was what the CCP usually does. The CCP has always been trying to distort Falun Gong and is afraid that the people would see a brave scholar and mother like Dr. Wang Wenyi. Because when you meet Wang Wenyi in person, you know what the CCP says about Falun Gong is a lie, and you want to listen to Falun Gong practitioners.
Horowitz said the facts of the persecution would touch American people's heart. It was very important. They needed to know about not only the persecution, but also why the CCP persecutes Falun Gong. He hoped we would talk about not only the crimes of the CCP, but also the bravery and great things that Falun Gong practitioners had done. They have sacrificed not just for their own freedom, but also for the freedom of all Chinese people.
