Kind Words for the Singapore Government: Don't Ingratiate Yourself with the CCP; Short-Sightedness Will Hurt Singapore

(Clearwisdom.net) Another injustice has occurred against Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore. According to the Clearwisdom article "Cooperating with the CCP, Singapore Orders Deportation for Practitioners" on June 6 (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2006/6/6/74187.html), Falun Gong practitioner Nie Ge's work permit and five-year Certificate of Social Activities (residency permit) were revoked simultaneously, and she was ordered to leave the country within 7 days. Ms. Cheng Lu Jin, another Falun Gong practitioner, received a stamp from the immigration office on her certificate of permanent residence which says "could be repatriated at anytime."

CCP Specter Hovers over the Lion City

Singapore is called the "Lion City" in Malay. In Buddhist cultivation practices of the past, people often spoke of diligence with the fierceness and determination of a lion. Unfortunately, in order to please the Chinese Communist Party, the Singapore government decided to cooperate with it in the persecution of Falun Gong. Frequent harassment and unfair treatment of Falun Gong practitioners during their peaceful protests and truth clarification over the last several years have tarnished Singapore's reputation in the international community.

According to the Clearwisdom report on June 6, practitioners who regularly clarify the truth at local tourist attractions, downtown, and near the Chinese consulate said that police had been behaving differently lately. They have shown up frequently, taken photos, made videos, and seized exhibition boards that had been displayed for a long time. When asked, all the police officers said that it was not their decision. It came from higher officials and there is nothing they can do about it.

The suppression of and discrimination against Falun Gong practitioners by the Singapore government appear to correspond with the degree of activities among high-ranking officials between China and Singapore. The most palpable example occurred in April 2004. At that time, there was a lot of activity between the two countries. Two Falun Gong practitioners Huang Caihua and Cheng Lu Jin were even charged by the police without grounds. As early as 2001, a court in Singapore made an unfair judgment known as the "Mai Lizhi Incident." The police took away exhibition boards and arrested 15 practitioners who were peacefully demonstrating. Seven of the practitioners were sentenced to jail for one month, 8 were fined 1,000 Singapore dollars.

Good or EvilWickedness? Singapore Faces a Choice

During the last six years of the persecution, the CCP has lost harmony with the heavens and the people. It has forced itself into a dead-end. The move to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations have shaken its rotten roots. The CCP now faces collapse. Condemnation from the international community, such as the European Commission's resolution to denounce crimes of communist regimes, and the over ten million withdrawals from the CCP all show that the CCP has lost support everywhere. If the Singapore government can evaluate the current situation, it can easily see the will of heaven and the hearts of the people.

Many other countries have been exemplary in their protection of persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. The United States accepted and protected Falun Gong practitioner Li Weixun. Canada has helped to rescue a number of Falun Gong practitioners who have relatives in Canada, and have praised Falun Gong practitioners' work in the community. The Vice Chair of the European Commission went to Beijing and personally met with Falun Gong practitioners to learn the facts of the persecution.

Singapore has a tradition of Confucianism; its laws are known around the world for being strict. As a democratic country that believes in Confucianism, Singapore's rulers should be familiar with Confucius' famous words of wisdom, "One becomes strong by having no desire." No desire should come from a clear understanding of right and wrong, and a determination to follow heavenly principles, uphold justice, and be consistent. It is not the strict laws, but the determination to uphold justice that truly demonstrates strength and honor. Only then will the people admire the administration. Only then is it a government that is for the people.
