Overcoming "Drowsiness"

In the section entitled, "Why Doesn’t Your Gong Increase with Your Practice?" in Lecture One of Zhuan Falun, Master said:

Please think it over: When do you usually get drowsy? What is the reason? Why do you get drowsy when you are studying the Fa and sending forth righteous thoughts? Even when you read articles on Clearwisdom or look inside yourself to find any shortcomings in your xinxing, you become drowsy. What is the fundamental reason?

We cultivate in order to improve ourselves. How can we possibly improve when we are not in the Fa? There is a yardstick for every level. If we cannot reach the standard, we are not able to ascend. Teacher told us: "To tell you the truth, the entire cultivation process for a practitioner is one of constantly giving up human attachments." (Zhuan Falun) Cultivation is to cultivate one’s xinxing. We should cultivate our heart. Teacher said: "I have said that our school of practice directly targets one’s mind."(Zhuan Falun)

I had some rough understanding about Teacher’s Fa. Originally I thought it was not worth mentioning. Drowsiness had interfered with me for a long time. Teacher hinted to me recently and I had some enlightenment in this regard. It was time for me to break through it. So I intentionally cultivated myself in this regard and made great improvement. I want to share with you my understanding. If anything is inappropriate, please point it out because it is a matter of improvement for the whole body.

When we have conflicts with others, we should look inside ourselves. When something has moved our heart, we should look within. When other people have conflicts, third party witnesses should also look within. Whoever is involved, whatever happens, as long as the incident moves your heart, whether you are happy or not happy with it, you should look inside yourself. Only through continuing to look inward can we say we are cultivating. As a cultivator, if you come across the same issue again and again, this means this issue has become a problem, you should pay attention and improve. You should cultivate it away. As Dafa students and fellow practitioners come across such situation, we should pay more attention and look inward to rectify it. Otherwise we may incur losses to some degree. Some practitioners may think that if I don’t cultivate well, it is only a personal matter and it will not cause any loss to the whole body. I had such thoughts before. As a matter of fact it was not true, because Dafa practitioners are one body. For example, like a human body or a machine, every part is related. When we come across problems and we look inside ourselves, we are clearing away the interference to ourselves and clearing away the interference to the whole body as well.

So when we become drowsy as we study the Fa and when we come across interference as we are doing Fa-rectification things, this is the time that we must look for the reasons. We should rectify ourselves. We cultivate ourselves under the guidance of Dafa. We should cultivate our heart. Dafa points directly to one’s heart. Any tests and any hindrance are obstacles on our cultivation way. We have to break through them. Only when we dismantle the interference and clear away the obstacles can we do the three things more effectively.
