Female College Student in Guangdong Province Arrested By 610 Office After Three Times in Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Chen Li in Zhanjiang City of Guangdong Province was a fourth year student in the Fine Arts School of Shantou University, Guangdong Province. She has been illegally sent to a forced labor camp three times since November 1999, and she suffered extremely cruel treatment because she persisted in practicing Falun Gong. Recently, agents from the Zhuhai City 610 Office arrested her again and sent her to the brainwashing center in Zhanjiang City.

In late November 1999, Chen Li was illegally sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She suffered cruel treatments such as being shocked with electric batons and confined with handcuffs and shackles when she was at the Shaoguan Prison. To avoid further persecution she became homeless after she was released. In April 2001, she was illegally arrested in Zhuhai City for continuing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. She was tied up to a cross for twenty days. Afterwards, she was illegally sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp.

In April 2003, she was released after her term expired. She sent the school authorities the application to resume her interrupted school numerous times. The school authorities and 610 Office refused her application, offering various excuses. In October 2003, she was arrested without reasonable cause by the Shenzhen City 610 Office when a Falun Gong practitioner visited her home. She was illegally sentenced to one year in the forced labor camp, where she suffered both physically and mentally. She had been harassed and monitored by the 610 Office since she was released in October 2004. She lived a miserable and homeless life.

Chen Li's sister, Chen Jing, was a fine arts teacher at Xiangzhou No. 2 Primary School in Zhuhai City. She was illegally imprisoned in a forced labor camp for three and a half years for practicing Falun Gong. After she was released from the prison, she was sent to a brainwashing center for two months because she refused to be transformed. Later, her family members bailed her out. She was compelled to leave home and endured a miserable life because she was unable to withstand the unceasing harassment from the 610 Office and the residents' committee.

On May 9, 2006, police from the 610 Office looked for Chen Li. They arrested her when she was looking for a job in Zhuhai City. Afterwards, she was sent to a brainwashing center in Zhanjiang City.

She has been on a hunger strike at the brainwashing center for almost one week. Although her family members negotiated with the brainwashing center, they still refused to release her. Furthermore, they have barbarically force-fed her.
