National Post, Canada (Letter to Editor): Rogers must consider what it is supporting
June 3, 2006 Re: Don't Censor China, David Purdy, May 27 My name is Marvin Ye, I came from China about one year ago. Now I am a
software analyst working for Alcatel Canada. As an independent immigrant, I leave my home country China to Canada to
pursue freedom and justice, to escape the pain of being brainwashed by those
Chinese TV services, and I hope my future kids are free from those disgusting
propaganda of communist regime. I was thrown into a labour camp in 2001 for 18
months by Chinese police just because I practise Falun Gong. In the labour camp, I was forced to watch brainwash program and lies story
about Falun Gong produced by CCTV and other eight channels. In China I had no
choice to refuse to watch it, and I had no right to watching what I want such as
New Tang Dyansty TV, VOA, BBC, CNN or any other TV network from Canada, U.S. or
other free society. Is it true as what vice-president of Rogers said, "It's all about
customer choice,"? No. People in China have no choice and they are enforced to accept those nine
channels and forbidden to have access to TV channels they want. But for Chinese
Communist Party (CCP), the answer is Yes. Rogers is giving CCP easy way to
invade Canada to continue their crime to output their dirty ideology and corrupt
Canadian values under a mask called "culture." This is totally unfair and unbalanced, CCP's culture invasion. Rogers' support to those nine channels is highly similar with the behavior of Google
company to block information to please CCP for Chinese market. What Google has
done is helping CCP to block truth information to input into China. What Rogers
is doing will help CCP to output its propaganda and garbage party-culture. Now,
Google is under accusation from congress of U.S. and criticized by all over the
world. Is Rogers willing to be the next? I really hope that CRTC can make a decision to protect Canadian values
polluted by those nine channels controlled by CCP. Marvin Ye
