German Newspaper Highlights Falun Gong Parade

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 2, German newspaper BuerscheZeitun published an article titled "Falun Gong protest to call for attention to human rights in China." The article reported on a Falun Gong parade held in Gelsenkirchen where a World Cup quarterfinal game was held.

The article included a quarter-page photo of a practitioner in white clothes holding a framed photo of a Chinese practitioner who died as a result of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party.

The young lady carrying the photo in the parade was herself illegally detained in China for 4 years for her belief in Falun Gong. She has a degree in finance and trade and was detained in Shanghai. She said: "The Shanghai detention center where I was detained used very vicious way to persecute practitioners. On the surface, they never physically tortured practitioners and guards appeared to be friendly. However, they often put just one practitioner in one brigade and arrange more than 10 inmates to control the practitioner. Though they didn't punish practitioners, they punish the inmates who were monitoring practitioners when the latter refused to denounce Falun Gong. The pressure is that practitioners would bring trouble to others if they persist in practicing Falun Gong. Through such a vicious strategy, they tempted to instigate hatred among inmates against practitioners."

The report said that Falun Gong has become well-known worldwide since the persecution started in China and more and more people have come to practice the exercises. The report said that near 100 supporters of Falun Gong participated in the parade, and did so to help more people learn about the persecution.

Westdeutsche AllgemeineZeitun (another German newspaper) also reported on this parade.
