Houston, Texas: Activities Expose Organ Harvesting Atrocities (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 22, Falun Gong practitioners in Houston held two activities to expose the Chinese Communist regime’s atrocities of harvesting organs from detained practitioners: a noon-time press conference in front of City Hall, and a seminar at a medical center.

From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30, a press conference was held in front of the Houston City Hall. Before the press conference, practitioners, including local practitioner Dr. Wenyi Wang, who had appealed to President Bush at the White House, entered City Hall and talked with city staff members about the atrocities in China. A Spanish-language TV station interviewed Dr. Wang afterward.

At the press conference site, practitioners staged a reenactment of the organ harvesting atrocities and displayed banners which call for public action to stop the organ harvesting. Dr. Wang read a letter to the Mayor of Houston, urging him to pay close attention to the inhuman organ seizure happening in China.

Dr. Wang said: "We have an obligation to stop these atrocities and the international community must rescue lives."

Local practitioner Mr. Xia cited the Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China, coauthored by former senior Canadian MP David Kilgour and human rights lawyer David Matas, which concluded that large-scale organ seizure from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners is happening in China. Mr. Xia also laid out the background of the persecution.

As the activity was held at lunch time, many government employees had a chance to see the organ harvesting reenactment, received practitioners’ truth-clarifying materials, and listened to practitioners’ recount of the atrocities. A team from TV Channel 13 interviewed Dr. Wang and videotaped the activity.

From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., a seminar was held at the Medical School of the University of Texas. Dr. Wang discussed the evidence, collected from many channels, which supports the organ harvesting allegations. During the seminar, recordings of phone calls to Chinese medical institutions were played. In the recordings, some Chinese doctors acknowledged that they used Falun Gong organs for transplants.

Local practitioner Ms. Wang also shared her view at the seminar. She cited cases documented in the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, to exemplify the evil and brutal nature of the Chinese Communist regime.

Ever since three witnesses in succession exposed the Chinese Communist regime’s atrocities of organ harvesting, and especially after the Canadian investigation report was released, many countries around the world have been shocked by the atrocities. Media coverage of the Chinese Communist Party’s evil nature has been steadily increasing. It is hoped that as the party's crimes are further exposed, people of conscience will join together to stop the persecution.
