The 610 Office Persecutes and Harasses Ms. Lei Jianying

(Clearwisdom.net) At 3 p.m. on September 23, 2007, Ms. Li Jianying, a practitioner from Xintang Township, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, was arrested. She was at a store owned by her family when agents from the municipal 610 Office and the National Security Team of Yonghe Police Station arrested her. The incident was witnessed by many bystanders. Without going through any legal procedures, police officers handcuffed Ms. Li in public and dragged her into their vehicle. When her brother arrived, he challenged the officers as to why they were arresting his sister. He ended up being beaten by police officers and arrested as well.

That same evening, Ms. Li was taken to the notorious Guangzhou Cuotou Brainwashing Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and appeared to become ill. She developed symptoms of hypertension and tachycardia (rapid heart rate) and was transferred to Guangzhou Military Zone Hospital for examination. The doctor said that she was in critical condition and recommended that the brainwashing center contact her family to take her home.

After Ms. Li returned home, under the pretense of protecting the 17th Congress, authorities from the Zengcheng 610 Office, the National Security Team and the police station repeatedly either went to her home or phoned to harass her. Sometimes she was disturbed by two different groups of people in one day. Police officer Zhong stationed his men across the street from Ms. Li's home and fired shots at her. When her family saw this, they publicly challenged the police as to what authority allowed them to do such a thing. Officer Zhong was speechless and could do nothing but guarantee Ms. Li's family that they would not do it again.

On October 25, 2007, officers Zhong and Lin Yourong went to Ms. Li's home to harass her. The family challenged them again. Since the 17th Congress had by then ended, why were the police still harassing them? Zhong replied that they would not disturb them any longer. However, the family noticed that Ms. Li Jianying was still being watched while at home and at the family business.
