Taiwan: Divine Land Marching Band Performs at Opening of the Penghu International Marathon (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) The 2007 Penghu International Marathon was held on November 18. More than 8,000 people ran in the race. The event sponsors invited the Divine Land Marching Band and Tianwei Drum Team, both comprised of Falun Gong practitioners, to perform at the opening.

Mr. Hong Doglin, head of the tourism bureau in Penghu County, said that the Marching Band has a great reputation after other branches of it performed in North America, Europe, Australia and other Asian countries. He praised the band, as it added to the event and drew more spectators.

The marathon started at 7:00 a.m. The speed walking group, consisting of 7,000 people, was preceded by the marching band. The drum team followed and helped add to the festive atmosphere. After the race, the Divine Land Marching Band performed at several tourist spots in Penghu.
