Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Yanjun and Others Illegally Detained at the Huailai County Domestic Security Division in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yanjun from Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province is still being detained at the Ertaizi Detention Center. Her case has been handed off to the local court. She started a hunger strike on December 1 to protest the persecution.

At 2 p.m. on October 9, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Fengqin, Mr. Wang Cunlai, Ms. Xu Shaorong and Mr. Kang went to visit Ms. Wang Yanjun. Zhao Guicheng, along with six to seven policemen from the county Domestic Security Division, then broke into Ms. Wang's house. Without showing any warrants, they started searching the house illegally. They took away several Dafa books, ten MP3 players, a DVD player, a tape recorder, and many truth clarification materials. Mr. Kang went downstairs to confront the police, but he was pulled back upstairs.

Zhao Guicheng lied to the practitioners and said that once they registered at the Domestic Security Division, they would be let go. The practitioners refused. Zhao then punched and kicked practitioners Li Fengqin and Wang Cunlai. They were handcuffed and taken to the Domestic Security Division.

Wang Cunlai was taken to the Criminal Police Unit. Two policemen tied him to a chair and handcuffed him behind the back. Wang Cunlai refused to answer their questions, so one of the policemen slapped him in the face. Later they pushed mustard oil into his nose and mouth. Wang Cunlai was handcuffed for a long time, which caused a loss of feeling in his hands, which exists even today. Witnesses said that after the torture session that night, Wang Cunlai's face was swollen. There was blood on his hands and mouth, and his clothes were all torn.

On the morning of October 10, policeman Wang Guanyuan from the Domestic Security Division took these five practitioners to Tongji Hospital for physical exams. Later, they were sent to Ertaizi Detention Center. They initially refused to accept Mr. Kang due to his poor health, but the police from the Domestic Security Division forced them to admit Mr. Kang. The inmates were coerced into beating the 70-year-old Mr. Kang, which worsened his condition. Later, the prison officials let Mr. Kang go on October 12 for fear of having to take responsibility for his condition. The police from the Domestic Security Division took this opportunity to extort an undisclosed amount of money from Mr. Kang.

At 9 a.m. on October 11, Zhao Guicheng, along with seven to eight policemen, broke into Falun Gong practitioner Liu Zhonghong's house in Bali Township. At that time, only Liu Zhonghong was at home. The policemen searched her entire house and took away five Dafa books, truth clarification materials and her daughter's computer. One policeman ripped the MP3 player from Liu Zhonghong's neck. Zhao Guicheng kicked her twice. When Liu Zhonghong's husband came back home, he found the house in a mess. He could not find his wife anywhere. He did not know that she was under arrest until the next day.

Liu Zhonghong's family went to the Domestic Security Division, asking for the reason behind Liu Zhonghong's arrest. Two officials named Wang Guanyuan and Meng treated the family rudely, and Zhao Guicheng threatened to beat one of the family members.

On November 19, Li Fengqin, Wang Cunlai and Liu Zhonghong were forced to write guarantee statements giving up Falun Gong and were then released. The policemen extorted 3000 yuan from Li Fengqin, 6000 yuan from Liu Zhonghong and 5000 yuan from Wang Cunlai (they eventually lowered it to 2500 yuan because Wang Cunlai's family is so poor). Chief Justice Niu from the Court and the Arrest Approval Section Chief Xu extorted 5000 yuan from Li Fengqin. In addition, the three practitioners were also extorted out of 700 yuan each by the detention center.

After Wang Yanjun was arrested, her husband was left to take care of their high school daughter. Her 80-year-old parents miss their daughter so much that they cannot eat or sleep well.

These practitioners are all innocent people, and they have never done anything to hurt others. The police arrested them merely because they were visiting some friends. They were arrested, had money extorted from them, and were stripped of their personal belongings. They had been monitored by the CCP agents for a long time. Their basic human rights have been severely violated.
