Practitioners in Pan County, Guizhou Province, Severely Persecuted

(Clearwisdom.net) Throughout 2007, the police have made concerted efforts to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners in Pan County, Guizhou Province. To date, over 30 have been arrested, some of whose families secured their releases. However, most of them were illegally sent to a forced labor camp, and Chen Mingsai and Wang Yunlong were sentenced to prison.

Starting on January 10, 2007, officials from the 610 Office of Guizhou Province and police from the National Security of Guiyang City, without warning, traveled to Tucheng (Baiguo Town), Pan County. There they joined forces with police and officials from the 610 Office, the National Security, and the police station in Pan County, Liupanshui City. They stayed in Ye Siwen's house (i.e. the Baiguo Hotel) and organized mass arrests of local practitioners.

From the end of 2006 to the beginning of 2007, Deputy Mayor Ye Wenbang of Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, visited Baiguo Town in Pan County, saw truth-clarification banners hanging everywhere, and got very angry. He went to his uncle, Ye Youbai, who is the head of Dongsheng Village, Baiguo Town, and secretly discussed how to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners.

After 11 p.m. on the night of January 22, 2007, the police arrested over 30 people including a 16-year-old youth and even a family that does not practice Falun Gong. In Baiguo Town, Songhe, Sanjiaoshu, Yueliangtian, and other towns, the authorities used police surveillance, phone tapping, and monitoring. After the arrests, the families of the practitioners demanded the practitioners' release. The police did release some of them, but there are still 16 practitioners in police custody.

The following practitioners from Pan County are still being detained: Chen Yumei, Xu Qihua, Tan Guangwan, Xiao Yunhui, Chen Zhongxiu, Pu Enfu, Miao Qiangzhi, Chen Mingsai, Wang Yunlong, Pu Enfu, He Fang, Hu Caiyun, Tang Xiaoyun, Miao Laoda, Wang Xiumei, and Zhang Shifen.

Also, Ms. Wang Xiumei has being illegally sent to Zhongba Women's Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province for a term of one year and nine months. This is the second time she has been sentenced to forced labor.

Zhang Shifen was illegally sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Xu Qihua was arrested by the National Security police while away from home and is now detained in Baihuashan Detention Center in Guiyang City. Xu Qihua's wife, Ms. Chen Yumei, has been transferred from the detention center to Guizhou Women's Forced Labor Camp, while Mr. Xu's brother-in-law, Tan Guangwan, who is not even a Falun Dafa practitioner, was also illegally sent to the No. 5 Division of Zhongba Forced Labor Camp for a term of two years. Now CCP officials are set to sentence Chen Mingsai and Wang Yunlong to four and five years of prison respectively. They and their families are appealing.

Mr. Xu Qihua's older brother, Mr. Xu Guangdao, was tortured to death in Dongcheng District Detention Center in Beijing City while appealing on behalf of Falun Gong in Beijing in 1999. Mr. Xu's father traveled to Beijing to look for his son, Xu Guangdao, in 2000, and was poisoned by Beijing police with an unknown drug. After he returned him, he suffered intermittent memory loss. Mr. Xu Qihua's land was confiscated by CCP local government officials. The original 23,000 yuan in compensation he was to have received has been withheld by the Government of Dongsheng Village, Baiguo Town. Mr. Xu's over 70-year-old parents have to take care of Mr. Xu Qihua and Mr. Xu Guangdao's five children, and the older couple are having a very difficult time.
