(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Yongjun, 35, is from Zhisheng Town, Rongchang County, Chongqing Municipality. He holds an associate degree. In November 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa and was subsequently detained for a month. On December 27, 1999, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor, and was imprisoned at the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing Municipality. Because he persevered in his beliefs, his sentence was extended twice, first by eight months and then by four months. He was finally released on December 26, 2001.

Mr. Zhang began clarifying the facts about Falun Dafa to others soon after his release. On July 1, 2003, he was arrested by police in Yongchuan County for distributing truth-clarification materials, and he later escaped. On September 28, 2005, the police issued a warrant for Mr. Zhang's arrest.

On June 28, 2007, while traveling by bus from Lezhi County to Neijiang City in Sichuan Province, Mr. Zhang and another practitioner were arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Section of Lezhi County. While he was detained at the Lezhi County Detention Center, Mr. Zhang went on a one-month hunger strike to protest the persecution. He subsequently became extremely weak. Although he is 5' 6" tall, his weight fell to 88 lbs.

On October 26, 2007, the Lezhi County court broke the law by failing to disclose the court date to Mr. Zhang's family. The court sentenced Mr. Zhang to nine and a half years in prison. On November 13, 2007, Mr. Zhang was taken to the Wumaping Prison in Muchuan County, Leshan City.

We appeal to people around the world to help stop the persecution.
