WCBS: Chinese New Year Spectacular Show Opens in New York City

that the Chinese New Year Spectacular show opened at New York's famed Radio City

elaborate costumes, settings, dancers, singers and musicians. Some of its
segments referenced the beliefs of Falun Gong and the persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners in China. Spokeswoman for New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) Carrie Hung said on
Wednesday that the purpose of the show is to inform the audience about the
authentic traditional Chinese culture. "We think that the Falun Gong
performance exemplifies traditional Chinese values, long respected for many
generations, such as unbending loyalty, persistence and resilience."
"The performance itself is of high artistic standards." The Chinese New Year spectacular has entered its fourth year, and the 2007
Chinese New Year Spectacular will be performed in 30 cities around the world. Panasonic and North Fork Bank are among the sponsors, The Daily News
is listed as a "Key Sponsor". A spokeswoman for The Daily News
said, "We are a big supporter of cultural programming." The Spectacular in New York City will be performed until Saturday. Volunteers
for the Spectacular show have been handing out materials about the show at
various spots in New York leading up to the event.
