12-Year-Old Li Mingqian Longs for His Father on Chinese New Year's Eve

(Clearwisdom.net) Li Mingqian is a twelve-year-old boy attending fifth grade. On Chinese New Year's Eve, at his family's reunion, he told his mother, "I miss my father. Can he have some dumplings?"

Li Mingqian's father, Mr. Li Hongwei, is a Falun Dafa practitioner who lives in the Yiyou Neighborhood of Shenhe District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He is an employee of the Second Housing Management Company under the Shenhe District Housing Property Bureau. On the first day that he started practicing Falun Dafa, he quit smoking and drinking. By diligently studying the Fa and cultivating his mind nature, his chronic diabetes and liver problems all dissipated without treatment. Mr. Li took his son to school every day, and he did the grocery shopping and cooking. He also helped Li Mingqian with his homework. Mr. Li is a good father to Li Mingqian, and he is a good son to his elderly parents. He disciplines himself according to Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, always thinks of others first, and has a very good relationship with his neighbors.

At 10:00 a.m. on October 8, 2006, guided by Shenyang City State Security agents, several plain-clothes police officers from the Shandongmiao Station suddenly stormed into the home of Ms. Wang and arrested Mr. Li Hongwei. Mr. Li was brutally beaten by several police officers, causing his body to be covered in wounds. He was first taken to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center, and he was later sentenced to one year of forced labor. He is now detained in the First Ward of the Shenxin Forced Labor Camp.

In the visiting room of the Shenxin Forced Labor Camp, Li Mingqian saw his father, whom he has missed so much. His father looked very thin, his hair was cut very short, and his hands were bruised. Young Mingqian cried for a long time. Nevertheless, after that visit he matured greatly. In order to not make his mother sad, he seldom cries in front of her, but he holds his father's photo when he goes to sleep every night. He is expecting his father to be home soon.

During the days that Mr. Li Hongwei was detained, the people who lived in the Yiyou Neighborhood felt injustice because good people were being unreasonably detained. People could not understand why good people are being treated like this! Sometimes neighbors quietly put special dishes that they made on the family's window sill to express their moral support for Mr. Li's wife and son.

The Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting Falun Gong for eight years. More than three thousand Falun Dafa practitioners have died as a result of the persecution, and hundreds of thousands of practitioners have been detained. There are so many families like young Mingqian's that cannot be together with their loved ones.
