Eliminating the Attachment of Relying on Others

(Clearwisdom.net) I participated in the coordination of the NTDTV Spectacular this year. Since it was the first time for the Spectacular in Japan, none of us had previous experience in this area, so we had to start from scratch.

For some of us, the attachment of relying on others emerged, for example, relying on fellow practitioners with more spare time, relying on fellow practitioners with good language skills, relying on fellow practitioners with more capabilities and relying on fellow practitioners in good cultivation states. As a result, some practitioners were overloaded with work, while some had nothing to do and waited around for somebody to tell them what to do. Only when all of us did what we were meant to do did things begin to go smoothly.

Personally, I intentionally or unintentionally relied on others and I was also relied upon by others. If instead we have motivated cooperation as one body, everything would have gone more smoothly and our “xinxing” would have elevated rapidly. However, the attachment of relying on others also includes shifting responsibility; like “I” don't want to do it; “I” don't know whether I can do it; “I” do not know how to do it; “I” will be held accountable if “I” cannot do it well, etc.

Fellow practitioners were burdened due to my attachment. Ironically, when I got a lot of work to do along with more reliance from fellow practitioners, my ability to tolerate was challenged. Sometimes I complained and even wanted to give up. When I was upset, Teacher’s words, “Cultivation is about cultivating oneself--why look at others?” (Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference) reminded me that under any circumstances, I should be clearheaded about what I do and why I do it. If fellow practitioners didn't do well, can I swing my arm, quit and not cooperate with them? Am I supposed to cultivate for fellow practitioners? Aren't I responsible for myself and the Fa?

We should not wait for other practitioners to do things for us or rely on them. Instead, we must cooperate with each other out of our own initiative, rather than blaming each other. We should put the “Fa” first and be aware of what we're doing during each stage. This is the cultivation status I've realized we should reach. When this understanding came to me I felt like a child waking up from a deep sleep. Walk the path of Dafa cultivation with divine righteous thoughts!
