My Understanding After Reading “Consider Fellow Practitioners' Situations When Talking with Family Members Who Do Not Practice”

(Clearwisdom.net) After reading “Consider Fellow Practitioners' Situations When Talking with Family Members Who Do Not Practice,” I have a similar understanding, as the same things have happened in our district.

Practitioner A had a materials production center at her home, and her child did not practice Falun Gong. Whenever fellow practitioners came and exchanged experiences, they did it in front of the child. Practitioner A was later arrested and the wicked police deceived and threatened her child. Under pressure, the child provided several Dafa practitioners’ names. He not only could not help his mother to come home sooner, but also innocently committed a crime against Dafa.

Practitioner B was a coordinator who would often take bags and bags of “truth clarification” materials home in front of her husband. Her husband was scared and complained, “Do not get carried away with this, or sooner or later you will be arrested.” She did not enlighten to it, but thought she had enough righteous thoughts so she would not get into trouble. One day while she was taking the material to other areas and clarifying the truth on the bus, she was “illegally arrested.” Her husband was furious and yelled at the perpetrator: “Why don’t you arrested XX also? He is the one who provides the material.”

Practitioner C also had a materials production center at her home. Her husband and child did not practice Falun Gong but they were very supportive of her and helped her do many Dafa related things. Practitioner C relaxed her sense of safety and told her husband many things related to cultivation. Her husband did not understand at times and made irresponsible remarks.

With the problems we discussed, I understand that there are three things we did not do well.

1. Being Irresponsible Towards Family Members

The Fa has different connotations at different levels for family members who are not practitioners but believe Dafa is good. They have an understanding at the human level that it teaches people to be good persons, and that it raises one's moral values. Master taught us:

“What I just talked about, being principles of high levels, would be hard for an ordinary person to understand. He simply can't understand such things. I am teaching the Fa to Dafa disciples, and you are quite clear as to what Dafa disciples are doing.” (“Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005”)

Family members do not understand what cultivation is all about, and when we talk above their heads, this not only cannot help them but can push them towards the opposite side. It is irresponsible towards family members.

2. Lack of Attention to Cultivating Speech Causes Safety Hazards

The destruction of many materials production centers directly relates to fellow practitioners who did not pay enough attention to cultivation of speech, and who did not have a strong sense of safety. Some materials centers have safely operated to this day, not only because the practitioners have strong righteous thoughts, but also because they cultivate speech and pay attention to safety measures on this human level. They keep one and only one contact between fellow practitioners. Sometimes when two practitioners meet, they do not know that they are both running materials centers. They won’t release any Dafa related information to family members, even though their family members are supportive. They only let the family members know certain things on the surface and nothing in detail. This is also cultivation of our “xinging”.

3. The Conflicts are Different

The conflicts between fellow practitioners are different from ordinary people. Master stated in “Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital” July 22, 2006,

“Can ordinary people compare to these Dafa disciples? No, they can't. If we look for a moment at just the situations where these conflicts and things arise, they are still different from those that occur in ordinary human society. The conflicts and tensions that Dafa disciples encounter are solely for the sake of cultivation and the sake of validating the Fa. Even though human attachments, the attachment of showing off, the attachments of the individual, and the elements of human beings that want to validate themselves are involved, [Dafa disciples] know about these and once they are discovered, they will fix them. That is completely different from ordinary people. So there will be problems between Dafa disciples, and, moreover, such things play an additional role. Namely, once the conflict or tension surfaces, it will affect other people. Once others take notice of it, the conflict or tension will intensify, which will then make the cultivators involved take notice of it. If [a cultivator] can look within when going through that, he will be able to find his shortcomings. If the conflict or tension were not brought to the surface or didn't appear, you wouldn't be able to discover your attachments and identify them. When all is calm and smooth, can you cultivate yourself?”

We should not complain to ordinary people when conflicts arise between fellow practitioners.

These are my understandings, please point out any mistakes.
