(Clearwisdom.net) I was heartbroken when I read the news that Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Hongquan from Daqing City was persecuted to death in Mudanjiang City Prison. Yet another Falun Dafa practitioner has lost his life in the persecution carried out by the Chinese Communist Party.

I got to know Mr. Zhang in Mudanjiang City Prison, which is a place where Falun Dafa practitioners are viciously persecuted. At that time I was illegally sentenced and imprisoned in the No. 16 ward in Mudanjiang Prison. In July 2004, Mr. Zhang was moved to Mudanjiang Prison from Harbin Prison, where he was also assigned to No. 16 ward. The ward instructor, Zheng Yuhe, immediately arranged the prison inmates to watch us and would not allow us to talk to each other. We still got a chance to have a brief sharing. He told me that Falun Dafa practitioners in Harbin Prison were severely persecuted. In order to "transform" practitioners and stop them from doing the exercises, the guards used all kinds of torture methods. One practitioner was beaten to death. In order to cover up their crimes, they secretly moved more than 70 practitioners detained in Harbin Prison to other prisons. Among them, 20 practitioners were moved to Mudanjiang Prison.

In Harbin Prison, Mr. Zhang was stripped of his clothes and put in freezing water for several hours in winter. He walked unsteadily ever since then. The guards incited the prison inmates to beat him severely. When I saw him, he was unable to move one of his hands due to the beating, and his hands were full of blood blisters. He was not allowed to sleep and was often confined to a small cell. He also told me about a guard who was playing a TV program slandering Falun Dafa. Mr. Zhang went to shut down the TV and immediately seven or eight prison inmates came over and beat him so severely that he was not able to get up from his bed for several days. Every time he was confined to the small cell, he went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and the guards forcibly fed him.

One day when he was in No. 16 ward of Mudanjiang Prison, ward instructor Zheng Yuhe went to talk to him and ordered him to squat while he was talking. He refused to do so, and Zheng Yuhe beat him. The next night he refused to report his prison number. The third day instructor Zheng Yuhe, Political Head Wang Xu and guard Lu Xiaohui sent him to a small cell where he was confined for one month. He was then directly transfered to No. 3 ward. In the small cell he went on a hunger strike with no food or water for 10 days to protest the persecution. The prison doctor sent him to the prison hospital and force fed him with concentrated salt solution. His suffering from the force feeding was so great that he vomited continuously.

One day in July, 2007 when he was released from prison, I saw him from the window and he walked more unsteadily than before. I heard that he suffered brutal torture in the No. 3 ward, where a prison inmate called Peng Si was incited to frequently beat him severely.
