Florida: Mayor of the City of Tampa Proclaims May 13, 2007 as Falun Dafa Day

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Pam Iorio, Mayor of the City of Tampa, Florida, proclaimed May 13, 2007 as "Falun Dafa Day" in the City of Tampa, Florida, and urged all citizens to join her in commending those involved in this event for their dedication to the communities and fellow man.

Whereas, Falun Dafa is an advanced exercise and meditation practice of mind and body that is based on ancient wisdom, improves energy circulation, and emphasizes the cultivation of character by following the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance; and

Whereas, since its initial introduction to the public in China in 1992, Falun Dafa is now practiced by over 100 million people in more than 60 countries; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa has helped to preserve human traditions such as honesty, courtesy, loyalty and unselfishness and has also helped numerous people turn away from drugs, alcohol, violence and other bad habits, leading them to pursue more meaningful lives; and

Whereas, the people who practice Falun Dafa come from all walks of life, as it transcends cultural, social, and national boundaries; and

Whereas, since 1995, when Falun Dafa was introduced in the United States, many Americans have come share and embrace the exercises and teachings, and many workshops and classes have been offered at various community locations throughout the country - 15 in Florida cities alone; and

Whereas, May 13, 2007 marks the 15^th anniversary of Falun Dafa and the City of Tampa is pleased to join in celebrating this distinct practice that encourages people around the world to improve their health, calm their minds, and deepen their understanding of life and humanity.

Now, Therefore, I, Pam Iorio, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Tampa, Florida, do hereby proclaim May 13, 2007 as

"Falun Dafa Day"

in the City of Tampa, Florida, and urge all citizens to join me in commending those involved in this event for their dedication to our communities and fellow man.
