(Clearwisdom.net) More than a hundred Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore gathered in the East Coast Park on the afternoon of May 13, 2007. They performed the exercises to honor the birthday of Master Li Hongzhi and celebrate the eighth annual World Falun Dafa Day.

On weekends, East Coast Park is a favorite place for people to indulge in camping, picnicking, get-togethers and sports. Falun Gong practitioners performed the exercises to peaceful music on the lawn by the sea. Such a large-scale group practice attracted the attention of many passersby. Many cyclists stopped and watched, and some tourists took pictures. Some people asked where to find practice sites and how to learn the practice.

Falun Gong Practitioners Are From All Walks of Life

Hairdresser Ms. Zhang said, "This morning, I went to a tourist site to do the exercises, now I am here to do the exercises. On this special day, I want to display the beauty of Falun Dafa to the people in Singapore. Falun Gong changed me from a person suffering from illnesses to becoming a healthy person."

Software engineer Mr. Xie said that practicing Falun Gong makes his life relaxed and carefree. He often goes to construction sites to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to Chinese workers, telling them about the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong and the grand trend of quitting the CCP. Today, he especially came with his elderly father to take part in the group practice to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.

Ms. Wang expressed that her wish on this special day was that more people can learn about Falun Gong, and be clear why we should cultivate. She said that she was pleased to see that more and more Singaporeans have understood and supported Falun Gong.

Calling For An End to the Persecution

Thirty-one year-old Mr. Tan disclosed to the reporter that he narrowly escaped from great danger in China over two months ago. Today, he is able to do the exercises outdoors with so many people. He cherishes this newfound freedom from the bottom of his heart. Mr. Tan said, "I returned to China to visit my parents during the Chinese New Year. Before reaching my parents' home, I called my parents to tell them 'I'll be home soon.' I did not expect that such a short sentence on the phone would bring me a lot of trouble. My parents soon called back and told me that the police came to threaten them at their house, and insisted that I must guarantee not to practice Falun Gong after I return home, and that I must become a spy for the police after I go abroad. My parents felt great pressure and told me nervously that the police knew all of my actions. Not until then did I realize that my family's telephone was tapped. Falun Dafa is so good, how can I give up practicing Falun Dafa? Not to mention doing things detrimental to Falun Gong. Hence, I did not return home and managed to escape and return back to Singapore."

Mr. Tan said that one of his friends in China told him that the CCP uses financial incentives to entice the Chinese people to join the persecution of Falun Gong. If someone reports a Falun Gong practitioner, the person will be rewarded 500 yuan to 2,000 yuan. Falun Gong practitioners' safety is constantly under threat in China. They even face the danger of having their organs harvested when they are still alive. Their fundamental right of survival has even been deprived.

All five members of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun's family came to participate in the celebration activity the same day. His nine-year-old daughter stood at the very front of the group to do the exercises with the adults. His seven-year-old son and four-year-old daughter stood on the roadside handing out materials to passersby. Mr. Sun told the reporter, "Our whole family has benefited since we practiced Falun Gong. We are very happy and harmonious. Today is our Master's birthday. Together with other practitioners, we sent birthday greetings to our Master. It is also Mother's Day today and my children are happy to wish their mother Happy Mother's Day in this way. But through various channels, we have learned that the persecution of Falun Gong in China is very cruel and inhumane. The families of fellow practitioners are torn apart and many children have no way to celebrate Mother's Day with their mothers. Taking this special day as an opportunity, we call for an end to the persecution as soon as possible."

People Learn about the Truth

On the eve of World Falun Dafa Day, the evening of May 12, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore held a movie screening reception at the Singapore Concert Hall. A number of short movies were showed to introduce Falun Gong to the public. Hundreds of people saw the movies. Some people had misunderstanding of Falun Gong when they entered the concert hall, but after seeing the movies, their misunderstandings were dispelled.

Practitioners were gratified upon seeing people having learned the true facts. Some practitioners who have seen these movies before said they were moved and touched by the magnificence of Dafa displayed in the movies after seeing the movies again. Some practitioners had attended Master's lectures while inside China. They could still remember the scene at that time, which has become a happy and cherished memory.

Falun Dafa was introduced to Singapore 13 years ago. Regardless if they are veteran practitioners who have practiced for over ten years, or new practitioners who began practicing one or two years ago, they all have walked firmly on the path of cultivation. Looking back at the path walked, the practitioners felt the great responsibility to clarify the facts to the public.

Singapore is a multi-cultural society where there are several hundred thousand Chinese immigrants and workers. The truth about Falun Gong is of great importance to everyone. Despite differences in nationalities and languages, Singapore practitioners will continue introducing Falun Gong and clarifying the facts as usual, to let more people feel the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa.

After finishing the exercises, all practitioners lined up by the sea to wish Master a Happy Birthday. Singapore practitioners are grateful to Master's compassionate salvation. Falun Dafa brings hope to the Lion City.
