New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins Issues Proclamation Honoring the Eighth Annual World Falun Dafa Day

Whereas, a Great State is only as great as those individuals who perform exemplary service on behalf of their community, whether through unique achievement in professional or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and

Whereas, since its introduction 15 years ago in China, Falun Dafa has become a practice that has improved the mental and physical of its adherents; and

Whereas, by staying true to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, Falun Dafa practitioners have helped promote peaceful relations throughout the world; and

Whereas, in 1999, Jiang Zemin ordered the end of Falun Dafa; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa participants in China have been subjected to removal from their homes, torture and even murder; and

Whereas, the Eighth Annual World Falun Dafa Day is being celebrated in Union Square Park today, May 13, 2007; and

Whereas, it is hoped that these brave individuals will continue to practice Falun Dafa in China; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, that I, State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, honor the practitioner of Falun Dafa around the world for their continued courage and adherence to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance; and be it further

Resolved, that a copy of this proclamation be transmitted to Jeanne Mitchell during today's events.
