Mr. Ma Qinghai Subjected to Extensive Torture at Chifeng Prison in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

(Clearwisdom.net) On October 31, 2005, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Ma Qinghai was arrested by Gong Chuanxing, an officer from the Aohan State Security Division in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In December 2005, Mr. Ma was sentenced to nine years in prison and was sent to Chifeng Prison.

Since Mr. Ma has not cooperated with any of the unreasonable requirements of the prison authorities, he has been beaten and tortured for an extensive period of time by guards and prisoners from the Third Ward, the Fourth Ward, and the Admissions Ward in Chifeng Prison. When Mr. Ma shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," male inmate Zhou Chungui, under orders from the guards, struck Mr. Ma's neck with his palm to stop him from speaking out.

Mr. Ma Qinghai has twice been tied up for extended periods of time. On one occasion he was bound with ropes for over 30 days. Another time he was tied up during the summer for 55 days. As a result, he can no longer move his arm normally, and he can barely bring food to his mouth. A policy of coercive brainwashing and "transformation" has been implemented at the prison. Mr. Ma wrote the "transformation" statement against his will when he reached the limit of torture that he could mentally and physically endure.

Further information about Mr. Ma's torture is now tightly restricted by prison guards. We hope that people outside of the prison will keep an eye on what the guards are doing to practitioners at Chifeng Prison.
