Teacher Always Protects Us

Not long after the persecution began in July 1999, Dafa practitioner Mr. Da Chuan went to validate Dafa in Tiananmen Square several times. He was arrested and tortured by the police. He looked straight at the police with righteous thoughts, and the police stopped and dared not move. When the police ordered him to write a regret or guarantee statement denouncing Dafa, Mr. Da wrote, "Falun Dafa is good!" The police couldn't do anything to him. There was a guard who was brutal to practitioners. Once, after seeing practitioners sitting cross-legged, he hit practitioners' heads, used a pair of tongs to squeeze their legs, and said, "Do you still dare to practice?"

One day, the guard planned to ban practitioners from reciting the Fa. He called all practitioners together. However, Mr. Da Chuan and the other practitioners talked to each other and ignored the guard. This really upset him, and he said angrily, "It is useless for you to keep on practiting Falun Gong. You've been arrested, and your Teacher isn't taking care of you." Mr. Da Chuan gave a loud shout, "Who says our Teacher isn't taking care of us? Our Teacher is here protecting us!" The guard then looked back. Nobody knew what he saw, but he was scared and left immediately. From then on, he dared not bully practitioners. Mr. Da Chuan said, "We have strong righteous thoughts, and we can always feel that Teacher is here protecting us, so we are not afraid of anything."

Practitioner Mr. A Xiu was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison when he was forty. He refused to wear the prison uniform, and declared that he had been illegally arrested so he wasn't a prisoner and would wear his own clothes. Since he did not have a change of clothing, he washed his clothes frequently. A guard stopped him from doing that, so Mr. Xiu went on a hunger strike for over one hundred days in protest.

When the guard saw Mr. A Xiu reduced to a skeleton, the guard thought he was dead and got a death certificate prepared for him. When the chief discussed Mr. A Xiu with some of the guards, a few hurried in and reported, "Unbelievable! Mr. A Xiu was dead but now he walks!" They turned white at the thought of this. The chief then went to Mr. A Xiu's cell with other guards. When he arrived there, Mr. A Xiu was washing his clothes. "Are you all right?" he whispered in an awed voice. Mr. A Xiu answered, "I'm washing my clothes. It's not your business." Knowing that Mr. A Xiu was still alive, the chief was both happy and afraid. He was happy because he avoided being reproached for Mr. A Xiu's death. On the other hand, he was afraid because he realized that Falun Gong practitioners are miraculous. Finally, he told his subordinates: "From now on, Mr. A Xiu is allowed to read Zhuan Falun and do the exercises."

Later, Mr. A Xiu told other practitioners that the hunger strike, which lasted about one hundred days, was just like a dream. After he woke up, he didn't feel hungry but only realized that his clothes were too dirty to wear, hence, he got up to wash them.

An inspector of a detention center, who was over fifty years old, heard someone reading Zhuan Falun aloud one night, and slipped to the cell where practitioners were. He saw that the cell was shining and the people who were sitting crosslegged were as majestic as Buddhas. He was shocked and realized that the Chinese Communist Party persecuting Falun Gong was instead bringing disaster to themselves. Later, he returned to the cell and found that the practitioners had gone to bed. He asked himself, "Under such persecution, where do they get the conviction and strength to stick with practicing Falun Gong?"

The next day, he called practitioner Mr. Da Chuan to his office, and said, "Please call one of your fellow practitioners, and have him bring your Teacher's book to me." Mr. Da was resolute and refused. The inspector said, "It is extremely unfair of you. I want to know how your Teacher makes you so miraculous." He added, "All the books we got from you were taken by the staff at the courthouse. They all say Zhuan Falun is a good book, so I want to read it." After hearing this, Mr. Da immediately asked someone to bring a copy of Zhuan Falun to the inspector.

After a while, the inspector applied for a leave, but his superior didn't accept it. He then said, "I'm going to resign from the office." Since then, he has not gone back to the detention center.
