(Clearwisdom.net) I walked into the Public Security Bureau building to apply for an identification card. The lobby is the size of two to three basketball courts. There are marble counters on three sides of the lobby. Behind the counters there were a few dozen police officers, each with a computer in front of them processing entry and exit affairs, as well as domicile affairs. Although there were people in front of each counter waiting to be helped, the lobby still gave a cold and still feeling due to its enormous size.

I walked up to a middle-aged policewoman's counter and took a seat. Next I submitted my application for a passport. The policewoman checked my application form and copies. After she verified the required information was put into the form correctly, she returned my domicile record and my identification. Then she started to enter my personal information into the computer.

Silently I watched her inputing the data. She had a relaxed and carefree expression on her face while she was typing on the keyboard quickly. All of sudden, she leaned forward staring at the computer monitor, holding her breath. She now looked nervous. The air seemed to have frozen suddenly. I immediately knew what was going on.

One evening about six months ago, the police discovered that I had been producing large numbers of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials at my home. The police came and confiscated a batch of materials and equipment. They illegally arrested my wife, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner, and confiscated my passport. In addition, the police put my home under watch for long periods of time. Later my wife was illegally sentenced to prison.

That evening I was not home, so I escaped the raid, but I could not return home again. I had no choice but to leave for another city and found a new job. The loss of my passport ruined many of my arrangements. My work was affected as well. Several times I was unable to go on overseas business trips because my passport had been confiscated.

Six months later, I took the opportunity of a domestic business trip to return to my hometown. I decided to have my passport replaced. I prepared all the documents and information required to replace my passport and went to the Public Security Bureau's building. That is how I ended up there that day.

As the policewoman was reading the message on the computer monitor, she looked increasingly nervous. After she read the message, she pressed something under her desk. (I guessed it must be an alarm button.) In a short while, a policeman and a policewoman came and were pointed to the computer monitor. The woman did not say anything after she read the message, but the man gave an order, "Bring him to the room in the back!"

While the two police officers were reading the computer monitor, the first policewoman took out a phone book from one of the drawers. She looked up a phone number in the phone book and began to make a call. She heard the man's order, but it appeared that she decided to ask her boss for instructions first.

What was I doing at this pivotal moment? As soon as I walked into this big cold lobby, I felt it was enveloped with a strong ghostly energy. Never had I stopped sending forth righteous thoughts. Especially after the computer system displayed a warning message, I intensified my righteous thoughts. I felt a large spatial dimension surrounding me filling up with positive energy.

While I was sending forth righteous thoughts, I kept saying in my heart, "Teacher, please help me! Teacher, please help me!" I believe that they noticed my calm demeanor. Because I have a steadfast faith in Teacher, the Fa, and the power of righteous thoughts, powerful righteous thoughts made me feel very peaceful and calm. I didn't have any fear.

While I kept sending righteous thoughts, the policewoman kept making calls. The two police officers she summoned were also waiting for her to take action. Time passed by slowly. The strange thing was that the line was either busy or she could not get any specific instruction from her superiors. Less than ten minutes passed. Her facial expression began to soften. Finally, she told me politely, "We cannot process your application today. Why don't you come back another day?"

Thus I calmly walked out of the lobby and got into a taxi cab.

Afterwards, I got insider information that the police were targeting me when they raided my home six month ago. When they failed to arrest me, they listed me on the watch list on the police intranet. In their internal system, I was listed as a Falun Gong practitioner "on the loose." That I was able to walk out of the Public Security Bureau both amazed and frightened my friends and family members who supported my decision to have my passport replaced. After all, the police missed me in the house raid. Now that I walked into their building, they let me go! It was simply incredible!

The cultivation of Falun Gong requires its practitioners to cultivate amidst everyday society and to transcend the realm of everyday people, eventually reaching Consummation. Many veteran Falun Gong practitioners have been cultivating for many years and have reached the final stage of their cultivation practice. Our divine side should become stronger and stronger. With that in mind, how can a divine being possibly be arrested by everyday people, unless he responds with human thoughts such as fear or uses human logic to design means of escape at the time of the potential arrest? These are everyday people's thoughts and notions that are forms of attachment.

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to openly persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, there were six times when I had a close encounter with danger. The first four times, I lacked righteous thoughts and responded with human thoughts, so I ended up being arrested. Once I was even illegally sentenced to serve time in a forced labor camp. The last two times, I had no fear or I had very strong righteous thoughts. Hence, I had a close shave but never any real harm. This trip to the Public Security Bureau was a particularly memorable experience. I truly realized that one thought will differentiate a divine being from an ordinary person!

Through Fa study we should have learned that a field of karma will permeate your entire body when you have a strong attachment. If you can see things with your Celestial Eye, I believe that you would see a living being made of karma dominating this person's body in another dimension. How could Teacher help you at that moment? That would be the same as helping karma. If your master soul can dominate your body, instead of karma, Teacher will be able to help you. Teacher is capable of changing everything, let alone changing the thoughts of everyday people.

Lately there have been reports on the Minghui website about fellow practitioners being arrested all over China and it seems that the number is climbing. Some fellow practitioners even predicted that the number of arrests will continue to rise as the 2008 Beijing Olympics approaches. It appears that such practitioners have acknowledged the escalation. Aren't they accepting the old forces' arrangements? Although we know that we ought not to acknowledge any of the old forces' arrangements, we are not always able to do what we say. That's why problems pop up every now and then.

Nevertheless, we must not make the same mistake again if we should face the danger of being arrested. We must never regard ourselves as everyday people again. If we fail to think of or have faith in Teacher, or if we cannot regard ourselves as Falun Gong practitioners or send forth powerful righteous thoughts, it is definitely not a small problem. It is definitely not about failing to pass one individual test of facing a possible arrest. This is a critical period of time when the Fa-rectification is about to conclude. A Falun Gong practitioner, once arrested, might face imprisonment for a long period of time. Imagine the number of people that might lose their opportunity of being saved! With this in mind, whether we are able to do well as genuine Falun Gong practitioners is a serious matter of saving sentient beings.
