Ms. Cao Lijiao Sentenced to Forced Labor and Mr. Luo Xiangjiang's Term Extended in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Kan Guilian (in her fifties) and Li Tiejun (in her sixties) are both employees from the Xiangtan City Jiangbin Machinery Factory in Hunan Province. Officers from a police department in Zhuzhou City arrested them on April 26, 2007 while they were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people and urging them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Li Tiejun has now returned home.

At around 6:30 p.m. on April 27, three agents from Jiangbin Police Station in Xiangtan City went to practitioner Ms. Cao Lijiao's home. Cao Lijiao is also employed by the Xiangtan City Machinery Factory. The policemen put Cao Lijiao in handcuffs and arrested her. Cao Lijiao has since been sentenced to forced labor by agents from the city's 610 Office. At present, Cao Lijiao is imprisoned at the Baimalong Women's Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City.

On April 28, 2007, more than a dozen people, including agents from Xiangtan City 610 Office and from the National Security Team of the Yuhu District Police Department, went to practitioner Mr. Wang Guilin's home. They threatened that if Wang refused to open the door for them, they would break into his house. They then started to bang on the door. After Wang Guilin opened the door, National Security Team chief Pang Han ordered some policemen to hold Wang's arms and handcuffed him. Meanwhile, the others ransacked his house. Previously Wang Guilin had been detained twice and sentenced to forced labor by the 610 Office. So far, Wang Guilin has been detained for over a month. His family members went to the detention center to ask for his release, but the 610 Office officials would not release him. According to his family members, Wang is showing some symptoms of illness, such as suffering from malaria and feeling cold all over his body in the summer even while wearing a sweater.

At around 5:00 p.m. on April 25, practitioners Li Mengjun and Zhou Kaiyi were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people and urging them to withdraw from the CCP. On their way home, officers from the Hekou Township Police Station stopped them. They lied to Li Mengjunn and Zhou Kaiyi, and told them that someone reported that they distributed Falun Gong materials. Then the policemen started to search their bodies. The policemen also took pictures of them and detained them at the Hekou Township Police Station in Xiangtan County. A policeman whose ID number is 54013 grabbed Zhou's neck and dragged him to the police station office to question him. Li and Zhou firmly resisted the persecution and were able to go home safely. In May 2007, Li Mengjun was arrested again and detained in the Wujia Garden Brainwashing Center in Xiangtan. He was detained there for six days, during which time he was forced to write a guarantee statement to stop practicing Falun Gong.

On May 18, 2007, practitioner Yong Saimei (in her 60s) was arrested for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. She lives in the Fourth Building, Second Street in Baohuan, Xiangtan City. Participating in the arrest were more than a dozen policemen from both the Yuhu District Police Department National Security Team and from the 610 Office. The policemen dragged Yong Saimei all the way from the 4^th Floor to the 1st. She is being detained in the Wujia Garden Brainwashing Center.

On May 15, 2007, several policemen suddenly broke into practitioner Huang Deming's residence, attempting to arrest him. They tried to force Huang to hand over Falun Gong books and Master Li's portrait. In the evening of November 7, 2006, Huang Deming and Luo Jinxiu were distributing Falun Gong materials in Dongshan Town, Xiangxiang City. Officers from the Dongshan Township Police Station in Xiangxiang City arrested them. On December 10, Huang Deming was sentenced to one year of forced labor by agents from the Xiangtan City 610 Office. He was eventually incarcerated in the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City.

On June 26, 2007, practitioner Liu Fangping went to the Xinkaipu Labor Camp to bring her husband Luo Xiangjiang home, after he had just finished serving his forced labor term. However, the authorities at the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp refused to release him because he refused to sign the three statements. It has been more than 10 days since Luo's term was over. He is still being detained there now.

Lu Songming is a teacher. He is being held at the Shuangfeng Detention Center in Hunan Province. In January 2007, while telling people the facts about Falun Gong, police patrol team officers arrested him. On February 4, 2007, Lu Mengjun and Lu Songming were both arrested and held at the Shuangfeng County Detention Center in Loudi City, Hunan Province. They have been detained there for over three months. During this time, Lu Mengjun's over 80-year-old father and his other family members went to the detention center many times but were not allowed to see him. It was said that the provincial level 610 Office has gotten involved. They are probably going to be put on trial.

Falun Gong practitioners have not committed any crimes. All they are doing is telling people the facts about Falun Gong and asking for the right to practice Falun Gong. However, because of that, they are suffering from different kinds of persecution.

Both the Shuangfeng County Police Department National Security Team and Xinzi Police Station have been involved in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
