Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Jianxin and her husband from Ershilipu Village, Wangdu Township, Baoding County, Hebei Province, began practicing Falun Gong in1995.

The village party secretary, Fu Linlu and the township party secretary, Ma Wenku along with others illegally arrested Ms. Zhang and took her to the Wangdu Detention Center in September of 1999 for three months. They also extorted 4000 Yuan from her family. Meanwhile, her husband, daugther-in-law and younger sister were imprisoned for a few days and everyone had an additional 500 Yuan extorted from them.

In December 2000, Ms. Zhang Jianxin and several fellow practitioners showed that "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance are good " at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. They were beaten by six plainclothes policemen, then imprisoned and inhumanly tortured at the Haidian police station in Beijing. Twelve days later, the township party secretary of discipline and inspection, Li Keqin imprisoned Ms. Zhang in the Wangdu Detention Center for one month and extorted 500 yuan from her before her release. Ms. Zhang's husband was brutally beaten in the Wangdu Detention Center after they seized him in Tiananmen Square.

Ms. Zhang and her husband were illegally imprisoned until February 2001. Township party secretary Ma then sent them to the 610 Office to be brainwashed.

In July 2001, Ms. Zhang, her husband and her sister were detained in the detention center and persecuted once again by the chief of the 610 office, Shang Hongzhi for four months. Afterwards, they were send to a forced labor camp for one year. Ms. Zhang's husband and her sister were imprisoned by people of the 610 Office for one month.
