Five Practitioners Seized and Tried in Ningxia Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Under the instructions of the Ningxia Provincial 610 Office and the Provincial Police Department, members of the Yinchuan City 610 Office, Department 1 of the Yinchuan City Police Station, and the Xingqing District Police Station arrested practitioners by following them and tapping their telephones. On the evening of December 7, 2006, five practitioners in Yinchuang City were arrested. They were Zhao Yuhu, Cai Guojun, Jiang Hongying, Zhang Xiaoping, and Mu Zhihong, who is from Shizuishan. The practitioners were detained at the Yinchuan City Detention Center and tortured. After secret trials were held for the practitioners, the authorities set up another one at the No. 6 Court in the Yinchuang City Court on July 11, 2007. The sentences will be publicized in ten days.

About the five practitioners

Mr. Zhao Yuhu, in his 30s, is an engineer from the Ningxia Residential Building Development Company. He was illegally sentenced to forced labor previously.

Mr. Cai Guojun, in his 30s, was previously sent to a forced labor camp. He was arrested and tortured by the Ningxia 610 Office, the Yinchuan State Security Division, and the Shizuishan State Security Division on May 27, 2005. He jumped out of a fourth floor window while being tortured during an interrogation. He fractured his hip, spine, and right arm. In addition, his right leg became permanently paralyzed. The police sent him home instead of sending him to the hospital. After a few months, Cai Guojun regained his health through practicing Dafa. However, the police wanted to continue to persecute him, so he had to leave home and go from place to place to avoid further persecution. Unfortunately he was arrested again.

Ms. Zhang Xiaoping, in her 30s, is a hairdresser from Yinchuan. She was arrested for her belief four times before and was sent to a forced labor camp for three years. From October 2005 to March 2006, personnel at the Xingqing District Police Station and the Yinchuan Detention Center brutally tortured her tying her up with rope, hanging her up for more than 10 hours, restraining her in the Tiger Bench, punitively force-feeding her, hanging her upside down, and putting her in shackles. The six months of torture wracked her health and pushed her to the verge of death. The police then sent her to an emergency room and left right away for fear of being held responsible for her death. In the following months, seeing that she had regained her health through practicing Falun Gong, the police were determined to go after her again. Zhang Xiaoping had to leave her home to avoid the persecution but was arrested again.

Ms. Jiang Hongying, 65, is a retiree of the Ningxia Marine Science Institute. She was arrested several times and twice sent to forced labor camp.

Mr. Mu Zhihong, 65, is a retiree living in the Dawukou District, Shizuishan City, Ningxia Province. He was arrested five times and sent to a forced labor camp for one and a half years. After being released, he was forced to leave home and go from place to place to avoid further persecution.

The Court set up illegal trials for these practitioners several times

Xixia District Court of Yinchuan City set up a trial for practitioners Zhao Yuhu, Zhang Xiaoping, Cai Guojun, and Jiang Hongying at the behest of the Ningxia Provincial 610 Office on May 15.

At 8:40 a.m. on May 15, the four practitioners were brought to the courtroom. Zhang Xiaoping shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good! Give Falun Dafa justice! Falun Dafa suffers wrongful treatment!" The police removed Ms. Zhang and put her into a different room.

All of the practitioners showed a very good state of mind and sent strong righteous thoughts, even though they were weakened by their hunger strike to protest the persecution. They uprightly resisted the court's accusations, and those presiding could not come to a conclusion.

On May 29, the Ningxia Provincial Government and 610 Office heads Su Deliang, Zheng Xiaoming, Wang Jie, and Yao Yingli ordered Xixia District Court to set up another trial. Practitioners Zhao Yuhu, Zhang Xiaoping, Cai Guojun, and Jiang Hongying were given heavy sentences. Their terms of imprisonment were seven years, five and a half years, five years, and four years, respectively. All four practitioners appealed their sentences. The head judge was Xu Yingchun. The other judges were Li Zhiquan and Yang Hequn. The clerk was Yang Tingting, and the person responsible for the trial was Li Zhiquan.

On July 11, 2007, after the practitioners' appeal, a third trial was set up in the No. 6 Courtroom of the Yinchuan City Court.

In the courtroom, the practitioners talked about their own experiences of practicing Falun Gong and exposed the persecution. Zhao Yuhu said that the Yinchuan police had subjected him to sleep deprivation for over three days and nights, the Tiger Bench, and other torture methods. Zhang Xiaoping said that the police subjected her to sleep deprivation, cuffed her hands and feet together, and beat her brutally. She shouted "Falun Dafa is good!" in the court. The trial had to be stopped again, but the court decided to announce the verdicts in ten days.

Practitioner Mu Zhihong from Shizuishan City was sentenced during a secret trial

Ms. Mu Zhihong was arrested in Yinchuan City on December 7, 2006, with the four other practitioners by agents of the Yinchuan 610 Office and the police station. Ms. Mu Zhihong was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the Shizuishan City Court; she has already appealed.

During the process of practitioners' clarifying the truth, many people from the legal system, different levels of government, and the 610 Office system have already come to understand the facts and do not want to participate in the persecution any longer. However, a few from the Ningxia provincial government and the 610 Office, including Su Deliang, Zhen Xiaoming, Wang Jie, Yao Yingli, and Wang Man, have forced and manipulated the court to give practitioners heavy sentences.
