Three Practitioners in Henan Province Illegally Sentenced to Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) On June 28, 2007, Mr. Hu Xinzheng, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chuanhui District, Zhoukou City, Henan Province, was illegally sentenced to prison for five years. Mr. Li Jie, from Huaiyang City, was sentenced to seven years, and Mr. Liu Qingchen, from Xiangcheng City, was sentenced to three years.

In June 2007, a "high-level" secret meeting was held. It was attended by Political and Judiciary Committee secretaries, top local 610 Office officials, and police department directors from various regions of Henan Province. It was reported that the meeting was called by Xu Guangchun (male), the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary of Henan Province and die-hard follower of Jiang Zemin. Li Xinmin (male), the Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary and Luo Gan's group spoke at the meeting and specifically deployed a new round of persecution of Falun Gong.

Chuanhui District of Huaiyang City, and Xiangcheng City opened court sessions for the three practitioners and sentenced them to prison at the same time. This is one of the criminal means used by the Political and Judiciary Committee and the Zhoukou City 610 Office to follow higher authorities' orders and escalate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The three courts opened court sessions the same day, notified their families just several hours before the court sessions, and deprived practitioners of an appeal term. Therefore, the first trial was final. It seems that the Political and Judiciary Committee and the Zhoukou City 610 Office worked together on this persecution case.

Mr. Hu Xinzheng is 55 years old. He lives at No. 50 Hehua Street in Chuanhui District, Zhoukou City. He has an 86-year-old mother and a disabled brother in his sixties. The three of them survived on a slightly over-100 yuan premium, and income from Mr. Hu's book stand at the south gate of the Hehua Market. His family is extremely poor. On March 6, Officers Gao Feng (male) and Xu Hongzhi (male), from the Shanan Police Department in Zhoukou City, colluded with Zhu Guangqiang (male), the deputy director of the Fangzhi Road Police Station, and took Mr. Hu into custody and searched his home. Mr. Hu was detained in the Zhoukou City Detention Center.
