The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Han Jianzhi from Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Han Jianzhi is a farmer in Cailan Village Group 6, Dongliao County, Jilin Province. In the past eight years, he has been sent to a forced labor camp twice for a total of five years because he practices Falun Gong and follows the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

After the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Han went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. As a result, he was illegally detained for 30 days.

On December 26, 2001, Li Jing, the Political Security Section chief of Dongliao County Police Department, and local policeman Wang took Mr. Han Jianzhi from his home. The police sent Mr. Han to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City for two years of forced labor without a trial.

Right after Mr. Han arrived at the labor camp, the camp guards attempted to force him to write the "Five Statements," which he refused to do. The guards then used various means to persecute him. For example, they did not allow him to speak or sleep and he was forced to sit on a narrow board without moving for a long time. The guards also had the criminal inmates beat him. Those inmates who collaborated with guards to persecute Falun Gong practitioners would have their terms reduced by 15 days. Mr. Han once recited some of Master's articles to a fellow practitioner, and an inmate reported it to the guards. The guards forced Mr. Han's head into the narrow ladder of a bunk bed and beat his back with a V-shaped belt.

Mr. Han Jianzhi was released on November 5, 2003. During the two-year imprisonment at the labor camp, he was devastated mentally and physically. At the present time, the lower part of his body is still numb, and he cannot walk without difficulty. In addition, he sometimes becomes absent-minded.

On February 13, 2004, when Mr. Han Jianzhi was posting Falun Gong truth-clarification fliers, he was arrested by officers from the Xifeng County Police Station and the Zhenxing Police Branch. They illegally imprisoned Mr. Han in a forced labor camp for three years.

Mr. Han spent two and a half years at Tieling Forced Labor Camp, where he was forced to do labor that surpassed his physical ability. A few months after he was sent to the labor camp, he fainted before going to work, but no one attended to him. After he woke up, he was forced to do the labor as usual. Mr. Han once had diarrhea for over 20 days, but he was forced to continue doing heavy labor. As a result, he became emaciated. He was not allowed to rest until he could not walk steadily.

Once, the 1st Division chief guard, Miao Zhanbapo, forced Falun Gong practitioners to do heavy labor, and the practitioners refused. Miao ordered inmates to beat the practitioners and carry the practitioners onto the vehicle to the workplace. The practitioners were forced to work in a ditch that was over one meter deep. Since Mr. Han Jianzhi had not eaten for days, he fainted in the ditch. When he was taken up out of the ditch to be fed with a bottle of salt water, camp guard Qi Zuo ordered an inmate to urinate into the bottle.

On August 18, 2006, Mr. Han was transferred to Xianning Forced Labor Camp in Benxi City. During his several months of detention there, Mr. Han suffered from mental persecution. He was forced to watch television programs slandering Dafa and have "conversations" with camp guards every day. The "conversations" usually lasted until after midnight, which served the purpose of sleep deprivation. In addition, to cover up the persecution, the labor camp did not allow Falun Gong practitioners' families to visit, even if they had traveled a couple hundred miles to do so. Mr. Han Zhijian was finally released on February 15, 2007.
