On September 25, 2007, during the 62^nd United Nations (UN) Summit, the Eastern USA Falun Dafa Association and the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP held a rally in front of UN headquarters. They called on state leaders and the general public to pay attention to the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over the past eight years, and to help stop the CCP's atrocities. They also congratulated the 26 million brave people who have quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

The spokesperson for the New York Falun Dafa Association, Song Yun, said that over the past eight years since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Falun Dafa practitioners have been present during the UN Summit every year. They go there to raise the awareness of the world's people about the CCP's brutal and inhumane persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Over the past eight years, the practitioners have gone through many ups and downs, but have remained steadfast in their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and have continually clarified the facts to the world's people. The practitioners hope that people can extend their righteous support and stand up with the kindhearted. This is actually of great importance for people's future.

As it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, Ms. Song and all the Falun Dafa practitioners extended their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa, and also extended their sincere respect to Falun Dafa practitioners in Mainland China. They also expressed thanks to the people who came to show their support that day.

The spokesperson for the Falun Information Center, Levi Browde, strongly condemned the fact that the CCP is so inhumane as to harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit, which has angered both heaven and earth. Mr. Browde sternly urged the CCP to immediately stop the most wicked crime on earth, and unconditionally release all illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioners and righteous people who support Falun Dafa practitioners.

New York resident Hu Zhihua said at the rally that the CCP's National Security personnel and special agents arrested his younger brother Hu Zhiming (a former Major in the Air Force) two years ago in Beijing. He is being detained at Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou City of Liaoning Province. According to reports on the Clearwisdom website, Jinzhou's Nanshan Prison is known as a place that severely persecutes Falun Dafa practitioners. Two practitioners, Cui Zhilin and Xin Minduo, were tortured to death in that prison.

Mr. Hu also said that his younger brother has been on hunger strike since April 25, 2006 to protest the CCP's wicked persecution. It has now been one and a half years. During this time, he has been force-fed via his nose, and is extremely weak. Doctors told Mr Hu's parents that his younger brother is in critical condition. Many times, while Mr. Hu has meals, he thinks of his younger brother who is on hunger strike. Mr. Hu was overcome with emotion several times during his speech.

Hu Zhihua called on governments that advocate freedom and respect human rights to stand with the righteous, and say "No" to the CCP's evil persecution.

New York Falun Dafa practitioner Dr. Huang Wanqing once again called for the rescue of his younger brother, Huang Xiong, who has been missing for six years. Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Haiyan recounted her personal experience of being persecuted in China. She was subjected to brutality that disabled her right eye. The representative for the China Peace and Democracy Alliance, Zhi Sheng dedicated a poem to all Falun Dafa practitioners around the world.

A spokesperson for The Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, Dr. Li Dayong said, "As the annual 'October 1' National Day approaches, we call for all people inside China and around the world to wake up and turn October into 'All People Awakening Month' so that our Chinese compatriots comprehensively bid farewell to the CCP.

Representatives of the China Democratic Party, Tang Yuanjun, Fang Nengda, Wang Jun and others also attended the rally and made speeches. They called for an end to the CCP's atrocities and the persecution of Falun Gong. They also called for support for lawyer Gao Zhisheng.

The rally concluded at 6:00 p.m.. Falun Dafa practitioners will continue their activities for three days, calling for all kind-hearted people to pay attention to the CCP's persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners and help stop the CCP's killing.

Background:

Over the past 58 years, Chinese people in Mainland China have been devastated by the CCP's persecutions. In July 1999, the CCP launched the persecution of Chinese citizens who practice Falun Dafa. These practitioners follow the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." In the face of the eight-year long persecution they have been clarifying the facts and using various methods to resist the persecution peacefully and rationally, so that Falun Dafa has become recognized by people around the world. Many people have begun to realize the deep strength which has enabled this group of people to stand firm under the CCP's relentless persecution, to be embraced by people in over 80 countries and gain support from around the world.

During the eight-year persecution, the CCP has attacked "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," which has angered both heaven and earth. Violence has not frightened the practitioners; conversely, the practitioners have demonstrated their great compassion and tolerance and gained the respect of people from all walks of life. Since the Epoch Times published the editorial series "The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" a grand movement has transpired--one of quitting the CCP inside and outside China. As of today, over 26 million people have quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

The Chinese people are awakening, and more and more kind and righteous people have stepped forward. Lawyer Gao Zhisheng is one such person. Lawyer Gao published a public letter last Thursday (September 22) to all senators and representatives of the US Congress, calling for Western politicians to pay attention to the human rights abuses happening in China and the persecution of Falun Gong, in the name of the Olympic Games. On September 23, the secret police abducted Gao Zhisheng and his current situation is unknown.
