Mr. Sui Yanzhang Tortured beyond Recognition at Changliu Detention Center in Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Sui Yanzhang is currently undergoing gross abuse at the Changliu Detention Center in Tonghua City, Jilin Province. He has been tortured beyond recognition.

For material gain, Changliu Detention Center officials made their inmates do forced labor to earn revenue by making toothpicks for export. Everyone is forced to get up at 5.30 a..m. and begin work at 6:00 a.m. If they are unable to finish their quotas, they have to continue working until midnight. As the working hours were long and the quality of the food was poor, the inmates were under-nourished and exhausted, making it difficult for them to finish their quotas. The warden incited the criminals to beat Mr. Sui Yanzhang. Those who could not finish their quotas also beat him out of frustration. Mr. Sui has now become skeleton-like from the torture. His wife Xu Yingjie could not recognize her own husband during his illegal trial.

His family members are deeply worried about Mr. Sui's health. He has been held at this detention center for over four months.

Detention center chief Lu Dianxi publicly slandered Falun Gong during a television broadcast. He also actively participated in the illegal detention of Falun Gong practitioners. Lu Dianxi also threatened practitioners who went on hunger strikes, telling them that their prison sentences would be extended by one to three years. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jin Min's term was extended as a result of his peaceful resistance to the persecution.
