The Persecution of Two Practitioners in Their 70s

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Sun Shou Fen is 67 years old. She is from the Xinghua Village, Weihai City, Huancui District of Shandong Province. Before practicing Falun Dafa, she had cervical inflammation, arthritis, stomach problems, high cholesterol, low blood pressure, angina, and many other ailments. Often she suffered from dizziness, nausea and vomiting, and was bedridden. She depended on medication to get some relief from her illnesses all year round.

Since the time Ms. Sun began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996, her ailments have slowly disappeared. She followed the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and considered others first, and she was seen as a good person among her friends and neighbors. However, after the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong, Ms. Sun came under persecution many times.

The first time occurred on January 3, 2001, when police from the Huancui District broke into her home and arrested her. Her home was ransacked, and all of her Dafa books and many other items were confiscated. Ms. Sun was held in a detention center in Weihai City for a month, she was fined 200 yuan, and she spent the Chinese New Year in custody. During her interrogation, policeman Liu Jinhu from the 610 Office in Huancui hit her and damaged her eyes. As a result, she suffered from optic atrophy and her vision deteriorated to the point where she could not see things clearly. Her eyes were painfully swollen.

On May 23, 2004, policeman Liu Jie and others from the 610 Office in Huancui District illegally arrested and detained her for half a month. Afterwards, they sent her to brainwashing sessions in the forced labor camp at Zibowang Village. Because of her poor vision, she could not take care of herself. The forced labor camp informed the police officers to take her back. After a medical exam, she was diagnosed with optic atrophy. In fact, Ms. Sun could hardly even see well enough to walk. Prior to Falun Dafa practice, she suffered from severe myopia and astigmatism , and when she practiced Falun Dafa she was able to stop wearing glasses! However, under the persecution, she almost lost her vision completely.

Ms. Sun's condition not only brought her misery but also added unnecessary trouble for her family members. On August 2, 2007, she was arrested by policeman Liu Jinhu and others for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in public. When her family members went to the detention center in Weihai City, policeman Liu Jieming extorted 5,000 yuan from them as guarantee money.

Ms. Tao Xueling, over 50 years old, from the Xinghua Village, was also detained in the center with Ms. Sun. At the beginning of the persecution, Ms. Tao went to Beijing to appeal to the government and was arrested. She was detained for 18 months. She was physically abused, which resulted in a broken rib. While she was persecuted in Beijing, her 16-year-old daughter was left at home alone.
