Additional Persecution News from China - January 3, 2008 (17 Reports)
(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of
persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this
report, 8 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention
and at least 15 practitioners were illegally arrested. 1. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Elderly Citizen Ms. Xiang Shulan Released
on Bail Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xiang Shulan and her husband, Mr. Zhang Junhe, a
non-practitioner, from Laishan District, Yantai City, were released on a 10,000
yuan bail bond put up by their children. Ms. Xiang and Mr. Zhang was arrested on the afternoon of December 7, 2007.
Laishan police officers first cut off the power to their condominium. The
elderly couple did not realize it was a trap and called the management company.
The latter replied that they would dispatch an electrician. When the electrician
came and the couple opened the door, several police officers rushed in from
where they were hiding near the corner of the stairs. They handcuffed and
arrested the pair and took them to the Yantai City Detention Center after 9
p.m.. The detention center director-on-duty noticed that Mr. Zhang was near his
70s and walked very slowly. He refused to admit them after he was informed that
the couple had been admitted to hospital twice for strokes. The Laishan police
officers had to release them. When they made the arrests, the police ransacked
the couple's condo and seized a computer, a printer, books, and other property
worth 20,000 yuan. 2. [Dongliao County, Jilin Province] Additional Information on the
Persecution of Ms. Yu Dianfan In the middle of November 2007, officers from the Dongliao County Police
Department, officer An Chunfa (male), and others from Anshu Police Station broke
into the home of practitioner Ms. Yu Dianfan. Their intention was to arrest Ms.
Yu's husband, who is also a practitioner. He happened to be away from home that
day. The officers lost their target, so they then arrested Ms. Yu. They took her
to the Liaoyuan City Detention Center. She was sentenced to one year of forced
labor and has been imprisoned since November 30, 2007 at the Heizuizi Women's
Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province. Since her arrest, police officers have
repeatedly harassed Ms. Yu's family and searched for her husband. They extorted
7000 yuan from her family in "guarantee" money. Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp: 86-437-85384318, ext.7001 3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Xiufang Arrested At around 11 a.m. on December 25, 2007, Ms. Sun Xiufang, a resident of
Jinzhou District in Dalian City, was reported distributing truth
clarification materials. Police officers from the Guangming Police Station
in Jinzhou District arrested Ms. Sun and detained her the next day in the
Jinnanlu Detention Center in Dalian City. Guangming Police Station in Jinzhou District, Dalian City: 86-411-87693234 4. [Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Zhao Hongyan
Arrested On December 26, 2007, officers from Xing'an League Domestic Security Division
and Police Station raided local practitioners' homes. Practitioner Ms. Zhao
Hongyan was arrested. 5. [Beijing] Mr. Dong Linyuan Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison Practitioner Mr. Dong Linyuan, 30, is a resident of Dongceshang Village in
Hebei Province. He worked as a technician in the second development section of
the Changgouyu Coal Mine operated by the Beijing Haohua Energy Resource Co. Ltd.
Mr. Dong was arrested on June 8, 2007, for publishing on the Internet his
"Open Letter to Wang Yufeng, the Director of the Mine." The police
officers seized his notebook computer, printer, removable hard disk, and other
property worth more than 10,000 yuan. Beijing Fangshan District Court heard his case on November 12, 2007, and
sentenced Mr. Dong to four years in prison on December 7, 2007. 6. [Bazhong City, Sichuan Province] Practitioners Sentenced to Three to Eight
Years in Prison On March 17, 2007, all of police officers from the Bazhong City Police
Department engaged in ransacking homes for truth clarification materials and
copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.
They targeted more than 3,000 practitioners in Bazhong City and its affiliated
district and three counties. They seized many computers, printers, copiers, and
Falun Dafa materials and arrested more than 100 practitioners. More than a dozen practitioners, including Mr. Wang Xiaoyi, were sentenced to
prison terms ranging from three to eight years. Others were released on 20,000
yuan bails. Some practitioners were forced to flee their homes to avoid arrest. 7. [Wujiang City, Jiangshu Province] Additional Information on the
Persecution of Ms. Liu Li in Suzhou City When she was working for the Taijinbao Company, Ms. Liu Li taught a girl the
Falun Dafa exercises. The girl was arrested one day while she was practicing the
exercises outdoors. Ms. Liu was subsequently arrested. Besides Ms. Liu, two
other practitioners were arrested on different occasions while they were working

26021 8. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zheng Cuiping and Ms. Xu Caifeng
Arrested Hanzhong City practitioners Ms. Zheng Cuiping and Ms. Xu Caifeng were
arrested on December 29, 2007, while distributing truth clarification materials
in a bus station. Ms. Zheng works for the Hanzhong City Power Supply Bureau. Ms.
Xu works for an automobile company. Hanzhong City 610 Office: 86-916-2626610 9. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Pili and Two Other Practitioners
Arrested On the evening of December 28, 2007, officers from the Laizhou City 610
Office and the Tushan Town Police Station raided Mr. Sun Shouyu's home. Mr. Sun
was not at home. The police officers arrested Ms. Sun Pili, Mr. Sun's wife (name
unknown), and another practitioner (name unknown), and imprisoned them at the
Laizhou Detention Center. Yu Zhibin (male), Yang Xuandi (male), officers of Laizhou City 610 Office:
86-535-2252610 10. [Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Practitioners Tortured in Bao'anzhao
Prison Many practitioners are imprisoned in Bao'anzhao Prison. The guards beat and
torture the steadfast practitioners and deny their family visitations. Mr. Yang Jitang from Hailar City was sentenced to three years in prison for
having a copy of the Nine Commentaries. The prison administration denied
his family the right to visit him on many occasions. 11. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Guiqing Sentenced to Forced Labor On December 17, 2007, practitioner Mr. Liu Guiqing, a resident of the No. 11
Group in Jiangjiadian Village, Dafangshen Town in Dehui City, was arrested by
Liu Jiping (male, Dafangshen Town Police Station Director) and other police
officers. Later, he was taken to the Dehui City Detention Center and held there.
Reportedly, Mr. Liu was sentenced to one year of forced labor on December 28,
2007. He was transferred to Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City and
tortured. Personnel in charge of the case: 86-431-87560010 12. [Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Xu Mingxiong Sentenced Practitioner Mr. Xu Mingxiong has been detained in the Chaozhou City
Detention Center for over half a year. His family was not allowed to visit him.
Reportedly, Mr. Xu was secretly tried and sentenced to three years in prison. He
was taken to the Mei County Prison in Guangdong Province and tortured. In April 2007, Mr. Xu went to downtown Chaozhou City to put up
truth-clarifying materials, and a police officer took photos of him. The police
from the Chaozhou City 610 Office broke into his house and arrested him. Mr. Xu
has been sentenced to forced labor once before. 13. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ju Zhiqin Detained in the Jinzhou
City Second Detention Center On the afternoon of December 26, 2007, Ms. Ju Zhiqin, a resident of Jinzhou
City, was reported when she was clarifying the truth and was arrested by police
from the Liuhua Station. She is being held in the Jinzhou City Second Detention
Center. Liuhua Police Station, Linghe District Police Department, Jinzhou City:
86-416-2813400 At around 4:00 p.m on December 24, 2007, police officer Cui (male), together
with five other officers from the Liyuan Station in Pingdu City, went into
practitioner Mr. Zhang Anxi's house and arrested him. A satellite dish, a cable
and a television, truth-clarifying DVDs, and brochures were confiscated. Mr.
Zhang had 1000 yuan extorted from him. He was released at 10:00 p.m. On December 27, 2007, Ms. Lei Chuanqing, Ms. Sui Yuhua and Ms. Ma Zuoying,
residents of Xingkai Township, Mishan City, were reported when they talked to
others near the railway station about their experiences of being mistreated
because they practice Falun Gong. Later they were arrested by police from the
Xingkai Township Police Station. At night on the same day, Ms. Zhou Yurong and Ms. Xu Cuihong, residents of
Mishan City, were arrested by the police when they went to Liumao Township,
Mishan City, to clarify the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong to the
local people. They were taken to the local police station. Later, these five practitioners were taken to the Domestic Security Division
of the Mishan City Police Department. They were taken to the detention center. Wang Yaoguang (male) Domestic Security Division Leader, Mishan City Police

(Home) 16. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Chu Jingcai Arrested At night on December 27, 2007, Mr. Chu Jingcai, a resident of Zhaoyangshan
Village, Chalukou in Dehui City was reported while he was distributing
truth-clarifying materials. He was arrested by police officers Lin Yingqi (male)
and Fei Changjun (male) from the Chalukou Station and taken to the station. At
10:00 p.m the same night, the police went to Mr. Chu's house and ransacked it.
On the morning of December 28, 2007, Mr. Chu was taken to the Dehui City
Detention Center. Reportedly, police from the Baoshan Police Department of the Jinan Steel Co.,
Jinan City, hired some unemployed people from the rural area to track and watch
Falun Gong practitioners. Recently, at dusk, there were some people at the Jinan
Steel Corp Family housing, led by people sitting in a vehicle in plainclothes,
