Who Really Caused the Death of Mr. Wang Zhanshan?

(Clearwisdom.net) To talk about the tragic death of Mr. Wang Zhanshan, it is essential to begin with the story of his wife, Ms. Liu Li. The couple lived in Branch 7 of Gangling Village, Shuanghe Town, Yongji County, Jilin Province. In July 1999, Liu Li started practicing Falun Gong and following Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Soon she underwent a miraculous transformation both physically and spiritually. She recovered from the many illnesses she had suffered from, to which her family and neighbors bore witness.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the suppression of Falun Gong and launched a hate propaganda campaign against Falun Gong nationwide to justify it. From that time on, Ms. Liu Li resorted to many peaceful means to explain the truth about what Falun Gong really is and the CCP's cruel persecution of Falun Gong. At noon on February 28, 2006, three men, including the Deputy Chief of Shuanghe Town Police Station Liu Junpeng, policeman Sun Youfeng and a driver named Yang, unlawfully ransacked Liu Li's home and arrested her. Liu Li went on a hunger strike as a non-violent means of protesting the unlawful detention, but she ended up facing the brutal torture of force-feeding as a punishment for her protest.

Her non-practitioner husband, Wang Zhanshan, and the rest of the family desperately tried to find a way to get her out. They spent more than 20,000 yuan as bribe money, but Ms. Liu remained in detention. In the winter of 2006, Liu Li was unlawfully sentenced to three years in Changchun Women's Prison.

Mr. Wang suffered from a severe hereditary disease, which exhibits symptoms resembling a stroke when it surfaced. After Ms. Liu's unlawful arrest, Wang Zhanshan was left alone at home and had to take care of all the chores by himself. The physical exertion caused his hereditary disease to recur repeatedly. He had to be taken to the hospital, and then looked after by his elderly father. Due to the tremendous depression of losing his wife, Wang Zhanshan attempted suicide repeatedly.

On October 18, 2007, Wang's father called on him only to find that Mr. Wang had hung himself. When his family tried to deliver the sad news to Liu Li, the warden claimed that she was ill and must not be told about the news.
