Practitioners Should Not Be Attached to Gaining Insights or Guidance from Their Dreams

(Clearwisdom.net) Some practitioners take delight in talking about the dreams they have during sleep. Such a practitioner is usually not thinking about where he is not doing well in his cultivation or what attachments he should eliminate. He just follows his human notions in thinking and covers up his attachments. Such a person even says that whatever he has dreamed about he should believe. He does not follow the Fa to cultivate, but instead is influenced by his dreams.

Dreams are only dreams. I think that practitioners should not be attached to them.

We should not be attached to enlightening to something from every dream. What we experience in a dream may give us some guidance as to the status of our xinxing, but this is not cultivation in and of itself, although Master sometimes lets us know important things through dreams. What we experience in dreams is usually just to help us find our attachments. The dreams alone do not tell us what to do or what our xinxing level is. Our entire cultivation path and future are never entirely shown to us through dreams. We should mainly use the dreams as an opportunity to look inward and eliminate our shortcomings.

Actually, the old forces may try to exploit any attachments we have to our dreams. They may project their arrangements into our dreams to confuse us. So, practitioners should distinguish what is right or wrong from the Fa. Practitioners must refuse to be deceived by these tricks with firm righteous thoughts and not acknowledge them.
