Montreal Newspaper Las Presse: "The Chinese New Year Spectacular brought rich artistic experience and boundless cultural charm."

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 17, Las Presse, the largest French-language newspaper in Montreal, carried Alain Brunet's commentary entitled "Chinese New Year Spectacular Showcases Cultural Essence."

The report said that the Chinese New Year celebration at the Theatre Maisonneuve started on Tuesday (January 15) and runs though the Chinese New Year, February 7. More than 20 performances, including classic Chinese dance, vocal solos and a Chinese instrumental solo were presented to the audience. With members mostly Chinese from North America, the Divine Performing Arts Company presented authentic Chinese culture using Chinese, English and French languages. The programs unveiled a completely new visual experience and created a vast dimension for the imagination using high-tech multimedia...white clouds, Chinese stage backup, talented singers and musicians and rich cultural connotation....

It was an enchanting evening and also educational. In just two hours, more than 60 artists opened the gates of Chinese arts and unveiled the ancient culture of thousands of years.

The reporter noted that the dancers combined many sophisticated skills, including ballet, to show classic Chinese dance. In addition, the vast variety of traditional costumes in the performances added an immense dimension to the show, and the programs included a large range of topics: "Descent of the Celestial Kings," "Lightness and Grace" fan dance, "Mongolian Cups" dance, "Snowy Mountain, White Lotus" dance, "Water Sleeves" dance, "Ladies of the Manchu Court"dance..and there was also a piece which depicted the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

The reporter also noted that the live orchestra included both modern western instruments along with traditional Chinese instruments.

The reporter concluded by saying: Like a vessel which is loaded with traditional Chinese culture, the Chinese New Year Spectacular brought rich artistic experience and boundless cultural charm.
